Invoke Your Muse

Invoke Your Muse Cover
Get your creativity flowing with a little magick. Your supplies for this spell are:

- Dried lavender flowers
- Lavender oil
- Something to symbolize your art or craft

By "art or craft", I mean whatever medium you work in that you need creativity. Painting, writing, sculpture or even your regular day job. You need some kind of object that represents where you want your creativity to shine through.

Set the item on your altar, and rub a little lavender oil on it. Sprinkle a handful of lavender blossoms over it while you repeat the following words aloud:

Muse of art
Muse of sound
Muse of thought
Gather 'round
I ask for power
For shining light
Creativity
In this rite

Leave the item on your altar until you've found that new burst of creative energy.

Salem Witch Trials

Salem Witch Trials Cover

Book: Salem Witch Trials by Kirstie Alley

Salem, Massachusetts. A small town--with no clear governing body--became embroiled in a scandal that forever stands as one of the darkest chapters in American history. For those accused of witchcraft by their neighbors and friends, there was little chance of clearing their names; the mass paranoia that ravaged through the community took the lives of 19 innocent men and women. With an all-star cast of Kirstie Alley, Rebecca De Mornay, Kristin Booth, Shirley MacLaine, Peter Ustinov and Alan Bates, Salem Witch Trials dramatically revisits 1692 colonial America and the haunting legacy it holds.

"Salem Witch Trials" is a compelling 2003 CBS mini-series that featured many familiar and veteran actors and for the most part, stayed true to the historical events that came to be known as the Salem Witch Trials.

The mini-series begins on a rather odd note - it is right in the middle of a trial where the afflicted girls [who are the ones accusing people of witchcraft]go into hysterics and start wailing and screaming, then the accused start transforming into 'demons' [with rather striking make-up and 'flying' special effects]. Thankfully, this only lasts a couple of minutes [the production could have done without it], and viewers are taken back via flashback to six months prior where the events began.

The story focuses on the Puritans residing in the village of Salem, Massachusetts, and the year is 1691. There is no charter from England and hence, the Puritans basically govern themselves without any written law. Those who commit crimes or sins are publicly humiliated [there is a scene where women deemed guilty of sinful conduct are paraded naked whilst tied to a wagon]. The family that is the focal point in this series is the Putnam family - Ann Putnam [Kirstie Alley] gives birth to a stillborn child and is full of grief. Her husband Thomas Putnam [Jay O Sanders] is a bitter man, having lost a lot of his land and wealth to others who are more entrepreneurial. They have a son and daughter and young Annie Putnam [Katie Boland] senses the tension between her parents and finds herself being neglected, hence her desire to act out as a means of gaining attention.

The storyline is riveting and moves along at a steady but sure pace, building momentum as the horror unfolds - the acting is also solid and credible - Kirstie Alley's Ann Putnam is a conflicted and tortured soul. Her grief over her dead child causes her to turn to a village medicine woman, Bridgitte Bishop who is later accused as a witch, and this in turn causes her immense guilt [for turning 'away' from God]. She is by turns horrified and self-righteous at the situation in Salem. This is one of Alley's best dramatic performances to date. Henry Czerny's Rev Parris is credibly done, acting out the part of a so-called man of God who decries against self-interest whilst shamelessly practising it for self-preservation. Then there is young Katie Boland as Annie Putnam who incites revulsion for her performance as the misguided accuser.Rebecca de Mornay plays Rev Parris' wife who is mortified by the events in Salem and finally leaves her husband.

There are also veteran actors who have done an incredible job with their roles here - Shirley Maclaine plays the ill-fated Rebecca Nurse, one of the accused who also happens to be a pillar in society, a devout mother and elderly woman who maintains her faith and sense of humor in the bleakest of times. Peter Ustinov plays the Magistrate William Stoughton, a man so absorbed in proving the accused guilty that he never once questions his judgements. And there is Alan Bates playing Gvernor Sir William Phips, who initially acts the dandy and seems disinterested but who eventually realises something is seriously wrong in Salem.

The sets and costumes lend an authentic feel to the story, making the Salem of 1691-'92 come alive onscreen. All in all, this is a first-class production and will appeal to history buffs, educators [though with some nudity I'm not sure if it would be appropriate for classroom viewing] and period & historical drama fans.Highly recommended!

Getting Rid Of Annoying People

Getting Rid Of Annoying People Cover

Getting rid of anoying People

This is a nice little spell to get rid of people who are bothering you or are in your face.

When the person comes near you just visualize a blazing blue pentacle on his/her forehead. Next, mentally say these words:

"I banish you in the name of the positive powers of the universe!"

This little spell works very well, and it harms no one. It just keeps them away from you. It even works on intoxicated people and people on drugs, as well as people who have bad intentions towards you. Hail Eris! --Adam--

Solitary Wicca For Life Complete Guide To Mastering The Craft On Your Own

Solitary Wicca For Life Complete Guide To Mastering The Craft On Your Own Cover

Book: Solitary Wicca For Life Complete Guide To Mastering The Craft On Your Own by Arin Murphy Hiscock

If you prefer a solitary approach to worship and Witchcraft, this is the book for you. You need sound guidance and tools as you work alone to deepen your knowledge and strengthen your abilities.

Author Arin Murphy-Hiscock provides you with everything you need to take your spiritual practice to the next level. Solitary Wicca for Life encourages you to reach beyond the ordinary and create a unique path of worship, using techniques that go further than other texts:

- Advanced Circle Casting-advanced techniques and applications, plus methods for creating sacred space when a circle isn't necessary
- Enriching Ritual-tools and techniques that bring new depth to personal practice, including sacred drama, masks, ritual garb, and symbols
- Crafting Liturgy-Wiccan ritual defined stage by stage, as well as guidelines for writing invocations, prayers, meditations, and personalized rituals for esbats, sabbats, rites of passage, and more
- Drawing Down Deities-invoking deities for guidance, communion, worship, etc.
- Growing as a Solitary Wiccan-the means by which you'll enhance your spiritual growth and reach out to the world at large.

Solitary Wicca for Life is the essential reference handbook you need to reach deeper, go farther, and strengthen your solitary path-one day at a time.

I read lots of Wicca 101 books, especially those that seem to be aimed at the Solitary Practitioner. With many of them, I will find some points that I think the average solitary practitioner may relate to, or that someone, somewhere, will relate to. Many times, however, the material does not "click" with my own personal beliefs, or they do not take the "Traditional Path" when it comes to Wicca, but rather they are "Wiccanish". This is OK for someone else, but not necessarily for me. But I do not judge by my standards alone, but rather the viewpoint that everyone needs material that will relate to them personally.

Reading this book, however, there was more material here that I found I agreed with, related to and found to be "Traditional" with a Solitary spin than other books of this kind. And this, to me, was a big plus.

Ms. Murphy-Hiscock has taken Wicca back to the roots and explores adaptation to the Solitary way of practice. This is a Wicca 101 book, so it makes a good first handbook for the average new Solitary Practitioner and yet, it provides some material that the advanced practitioner may want to review because of its accuracy, to augment their Wiccan practice, to add elements of the Traditional or just because it is well written and has much to ponder and contemplate.

I especially enjoyed her overview of Wicca Origins, and her separation of Traditional Wicca from the Eclectic practices that Wicca has evolved into. She covers well the Tenets of Wicca, discusses common metaphors and myths and separates some of the more widely accepted but none the less mistaken beliefs and practices that have crept into modern Wicca. She gives you a good idea of how to go back to the beginning, re-examine the issues and maybe take away a better representation of what it is that Wicca is really all about.

Arin Murphy-Hiscock has been a practicing Wiccan for ten years, five of those years as a solitary practitioner. She is the series editor of the For Life series and the author of Power Spellcraft for Life: The Art of Crafting and Casting for Positive Change. She lives in Montreal, Canada.

Luck Hand Root Money Spell

Luck Hand Root Money Spell Cover
To get and hold a job, always carry a lucky hand root on your person. Use Lucky Nine Oil on your wrists each day for nine days, and burn some John the Conqueror Incense each night. These roots bring luck in all undertakings and no conjure bag would be considered complete without one. The hands are usually imperfect, but this does not affect their value as a talisman. The ones which are formed so that all five fingers are distiguishable are very rare and therefore extremely expensive.

The Practice Of Enochian Evocation

The Practice Of Enochian Evocation Cover

Book: The Practice Of Enochian Evocation by John Dee

There are no descriptions in Dee's extant diaries of actual Enochian evocation rituals, a fact that has led some scholars to conclude that he never attempted the magic. The existence, however, of artifacts such as the wax sigils of Aemeth in the British museum indicate that Dee, at the very least, constructed some of the requisite furniture. In addition, Dee compiled Sloane MSS 3191 (the primary source for this book) to be a working collection of conjurations for use in magical ceremonies.

Although it is possible that Dee never went through with the experiments, it is far more likely that he recorded the events in a separate diary that has not survived. Dee was a rabid diarist, and kept at least three concurrent diaries during the period that he was working with Kelly, each diary covering a different aspect of his life. It would be well in character for Dee to initiate a special diary for the practice of the "radical truths" that he had sought for so many years.

Separating Yourself From A Problem Or Person

Separating Yourself From A Problem Or Person Cover SEPARATING Yourself FROM A PROBLEM OR PERSON

Small issues can be handled in a magick circle, whereas larger issues may need a
full ritual. Think carefully which is best for the situation. You will need two
black candles, a long black ribbon, black gloves, scissors, the cauldron
containing small amount of alcohol and a silver bell.

Cleanse and consecrate all items. Dress the candles to send negativity away from
you, then light them. Hold each end of the ribbon and name them. Pass the silver
bell over the altar several times until you feel you are in tune with the
universal Energies of love and peace. Anger is not a luxury afforded to you in
this situation. Put on the black gloves and say:

I call upon the energies of Universal balance
I call upon the ancient energies of my people
I call upon the living essence of the Morrigan
Underworld and heaven
Land and sea
I waken these energies unto me
Witness now that I renounce and sever
Break bonds and connections with _______
By all powers that are one power
May the great sisters of Karma now weave anew
And separate me from you
As I will, so mote it be!

Cut the ribbon.

It is so.

Light the cauldron. Burn both pieces of ribbon.

Lavender Money Spell

Lavender Money Spell Cover
A lucky money spell is made by placing in a conjure bag seven pieces of money, each different, such as a penny, nickel, dime, quarter, a half dollar, $1.00 bill, and $5.00 bill, all of which are sprinkled liberally with lavender.

Take the bag with you for seven days and your money should multiply seven times(this would give you $41.46 above your original investment) or, in some instances if the gods are smiling in your direction, seven times seven! This would result in a tidy sum of $338.50 and seems well worth trying for!

A Spell For Fast Cash Flow

A Spell For Fast Cash Flow Image
"Choose an object as the talisman of the spell. Best is a piece of real silver, but a silver-colored dime, quarter or dollar can work as well. Hold the talisman in your right hand, as you recite the charm and work the vision of the spell, thus:"

The Charm:

Flow the riches of the river
Glitt'ring gold plucked free
Wealth arises from the waters
From the deeps it flows to me
Fire to form it, shape it shining
Bright now bring it near
Well I'll wield it, wallet filling
With cold cash my call draws here
Dagda's Cauldron, Boann's River
Filled with bounty's flow
Through me, to me, getter, giver
By my magic, be it so!

The Vision

As you recite the charm, with your vision eye bring a rich flow of Underworld power into your left hand. Gaze into it, looking for the gain it has to offer. Bring a flame of the Fire into your right hand and fill it with your desire and intention. Feel it heating the talisman with your desire. Place your right hand over your left, dropping the talisman into the left hand and making a closed vessel with your hands. Feel the Fire and Water mingle and act, and see the Sigil of the charm shining on and in the vessel of your hands. As your reach the final verse open your hands into a bowl or cauldron with the talisman in the bottom. Hold onto the talisman as you spill the conetents of the bowl out into the world. Put the talisman in your pocket and go on your way.

Healing Virtue Saludadores Versus Witches In Early Modern Spain

Healing Virtue Saludadores Versus Witches In Early Modern Spain Cover

Book: Healing Virtue Saludadores Versus Witches In Early Modern Spain by Maria Tausiet

The absence of any clear dividing line between the fields of medicine and religion3 in early modern Spain becomes particularly evident when looking at the figure of the so-called saludador (literally, a healer, or health-giver, from the verb saludar, to heal). As the term implies, these individuals claimed to have healing powers—powers that stemmed from the possession of a divine gift or innate grace bestowed upon only a chosen few. The concept of “virtue”, understood as both an ability and a moral guarantee, expressed better than any other the widely held belief that disease and sin (and, therefore, health and spiritual perfection) were inextricably linked.4 Rather than operating at an individual and self-reflective level, this implicit assumption meant that both the causes of and cures for many illnesses were attributed to the qualities of good or evil of certain external agents supposedly endowed with extraordinary powers. Of these, the most prominent were, without doubt, witches and saludadores.

Significance Of Candle Types

Significance Of Candle Types Cover
For the Smaller Candles I suggest you use the Seals of Solomon and Spirit Seals. Note: Never mix Ellegua and Oshun together they are enemies of the ninth degree.

DEVOTIONAL FIGURE CANDLE:

Dolphins, Seashells, Unicorns, etc. In this case, choose what suits the spell. I have found that if the Goddess or God wants an offering they will guide you to it. For example: Erzulie's an Ocean Dweller, so Seashells are appropriate. To light a Seashell Candle in Her honor will most certainly get her attention and appreciation.

SKULL CANDLE:

Use this for a thick skull! When you have to get inside someone's head, this is the ticket. Ellegua, remover of all obstacles is at work here. Use Uncrossing Oil.

CAT FIGURE CANDLE:

Luck is the key here and that's what those in the know of Voodoo use for their gambling winnings. Anoint a Black or Red Cat Candle with Gambler's Oil, and burn in front of a Lucky Seven Candle HINT: {your lucky numbers can be inscribed on both your Lucky Seven and Cat Candle for extra Power} Need a change of luck in general? Burn a Red Cat Candle dressed with Lucky Lodestone Oil in front of a Solar Blast Candle that's been dresses with 9 Fruits Oil or Ode To Joy Oil.

FEMALE FIGURE CANDLE:

This works the same way as the Male Figure, but here's a very interesting variation for women who are shy, or just in a rut. Take your Figure Candle and anoint it with either Passion Oil or Voodoo Nights Oil. Burn this in front of a Flirtation Candle and you'll not only find yourself getting there to meet men, you'll be a {HOT} number! Here's a little secret: having problems keeping a man once you've met? Then burn a White Figure dressed with Femme Blanche Oil in front of a Femme Blanche Candle.

MALE FIGURE CANDLE:

This is used singularly to attract a man to come to you. We use this with a Female Figure, and the Spell is to bring the lovers together. Both ways accomplish the same thing; it depends on how you want to work it. Figure Candles are good for developing visualization. I recommend burning these in front of a Come To Me Candle or Hypnotic with Midnight or Mystery Oil. On the Figure Candles you have a very potent combination. Burn Passionate Lovers Incense and you have amour extraordinaire.

WITCH CANDLE:

Care to be a Witch someone Special? Then use a Red Witch Candle anointed with Bewitching Oil and burn this in front of a Midnight
Candle. Both names should be included on the Witch Candle. Use Black Opium Incense or Voluptuous Venus Incense while the party
is there. The effects are DAZZLING.

DEVIL CANDLE:

Famous for their lucky attributes. Voodoo Rootmen use them often. You know the phrase " Lucky Devil "? Well, these candles are anointed with Flying Devil Oil and burned in front of an Uncrossing Candle. I've seen people with the worst problems have them turn around. This works best on Red Devil's. If you can't obtain a Red Devil Candle and you want to use this spell, then use a plain Red Candle instead.

CROSS CANDLE:

Did you ever hear the expression; " He has to heavy a cross to bear?” There is a wonderful booklet written called Secrets of the Psalms. Burn an Uncrossing Candle anoint with Hyssop or Uncrossing Oil. Use Hi John Incense and read the appropriate Psalm over the candle. This works very well with all the Enchanted Candles, but the best with Uncrossings, House Blessings, Healings, Solar Blasts and the like. They are all right for Love and Money, but better when used for the more Spiritual needs.

SEVEN DAY SAINT CANDLE:

These mostly describe themselves. Usually a Prayer is included on the candle, which will explain what the candle is for. If you're unsure and you are buying your stock in a reputable store, the staff will be able to help answer some questions for you. I strongly advise you buy your Magickal supplies in a store with good vibes, as these will absorb negativity, which will lessen the strength and Power of your Spell. Some Deities will not even come when summoned if the supplies the spell is conjured with are unclean.

---> Protective Chant <---

I'm protected by your might,
Oh gracious Goddess, Day and night.
Triple Circle that thrice around
The Circles, bound Evil sinks into the ground.
