To Upset The Plans Of A Foe

To Upset The Plans Of A Foe Cover
SPELL TO UPSET THE PLANS OF A FOE

To upset the plans of a foe, buy a thick white candle and carve it into the
rough shape of a human being. Write the name of your enemy on a strip of paper
using red ink, and wrap the paper around the chest of the wax image. Hold it in
place by thrusting a steel pin through the chest of the figure. Think hard of
your enemy as you insert the pin. Tie a length of red thread around the feet of
the image, and suspend it upside down, saying:

"As this image of [enemy's name] is overturned,
so are the plans of [enemy's name] overthrown."

Leave the image suspended. From time to time bat it with your hand to make it
twist and swing, and repeat the charm.

Writing Spells

Writing Spells Cover
Below are some steps that will help you get started when writing your own
spells. Please keep in mind that this is not the only way to write your own
spells. There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to creating your own
spells. A spell comes from your heart, not some universal law.

Your Spell's Rough Draft

This is the construction process of a spell.

Define Purpose- Decide what it is you would like to accomplish with this spell.

Locate Correspondences- Look for various herbs, gemstones, colors, etc that
correspond with the spell and look for other supplies you will need as well
(e.g. working tools) .Also decide how you will use the correspondences during
the spell. This could be anything from simply placing them on the alter in a
given position to creating a charm or amulet.

Casting the Circle- Decide what technique you will use to open and close your
circle.

Calling the Quarters / Inviting the God and Goddess- Decide what technique you
will use to call the quarters (the elements) and invite the God and Goddess.
(Note: this step or part of this step does not always have to be included in
your spell)

Meditation- Decide on a meditation technique you would like to use during your
spell.

Your Spell's Final Draft

This is the sequence in which you may follow when casting a spell.

Set up the Alter
Casting the Circle
Call the Quarters and Inviting the God and Goddess
Correspondences (place correspondences on the alter, light candles, etc.)
Stating the Purpose (this can be done through rhyme, although it doesn't have
to)
Charging the Charm/Amulet (if you choose to have a charm, this is the time to
charge it)
Meditate
Thank the Quarters and the God and Goddess
Snuff out Candles
Close the Circle

Career Care Spell

Career Care Spell Cover
The native people of California revered the oak as their "world tree," the acorn
symbolizing the cosmic egg, from which all life came, and the tree itself
symbolizing the cosmic axis, sacred to Earth Mother. The acorn represents
achievement and great effort; the oak tree represents durability, resolution,
and truth. A Thursday with a waxing moon is ideal for starting this spell.

You will need:
A green candle
A piece of green paper
2 acorns
A silver coin

On a Thursday morning, light the green candle. Close your eyes and imagine the
candle's light holding you in a safe cocoon. Write your name on a piece of
paper; followed by any ambitions you have for your career. Extinguish the
candle, and keep it to use later. For the whole of the day, keep the acorns,
silver coin, and paper in a pocket or pouch close to you. On returning home from
work, light the candle again, and pass the acorns and silver swiftly through its
flame. Wrap the acorns and silver coin in the paper and bury them in your
garden, or another favorite spot. Repeat this spell at yearly intervals for
continuing career success.

Tree Magick Willow For Love Oak For Strength

Tree Magick Willow For Love Oak For Strength Cover
Many mystical and magical uses have been found for the thirteen trees which symbolize the months of the Celtic lunar year, and it is likely, considering the popularity of Celtic Paganism, that many more will be discovered. However you choose to observe the lunar months, it can be helpful to first imbibe a magical brew designed to attune your body and spirit to the occasion.

Following are the recipes for thirteen teas which will accomplish just that. The measurements given are approximate, and for making one eight-ounce mug full you should use no more than a single heaping teaspoon of dry herbs placed inside a tea ball or cheesecloth strainer. All liquid measurements should be added to taste. Allow the tea to steep at least two minutes, longer if you prefer a stronger flavor. As always, when ingesting untried substances, be sure to test for any allergic reactions first, and remember that no herbal preparation should ever be taken over the long term without consulting an expert pharmacologist or botanist.

Though very few of the recipes actually contain any part of the trees to which they are attributed, they work quite well because their ingredients rely on using herbs and juices which share magical affinities with the properties of the tree. These properties are listed after the name of each tree so that, if you choose to, you can make substitutions based upon this knowledge. Depending upon the particular Celtic tradition you follow, the lunar year starts with either the first new moon closest to Samhain or the one just before Yule.

"Evil" Spells

In Naples, Italy, there is the dreaded Fattura della morte (Death-maker). A large green lemon is selected, and into it are thrust some two dozen or more great nails, about which is most intricately twined a thread of colored yarn. This is smoked over a brazier by the witches, who at the same time utter their incantations. It is considered ine of the foulest and most fatal of charms, hideously ineffective and a sure harbibing ... .aahhh I've lost the spell.

A spell with Christian elements used by Agnes Sampson, tried at North Berwick, 1612. See the North Berwich Trial for more background information.

Cottage Witchery Natural Magick For Hearth And Home

Cottage Witchery Natural Magick For Hearth And Home Cover

Book: Cottage Witchery Natural Magick For Hearth And Home by Ellen Dugan

Mrs. Dugan reprises with another absolutely fantastic book dealing with the elements of natural witchcraft and its connections to the hearth and home. Practical and amazingly easy to read and retain information from, Mrs. Dugan takes the reader on a fantastic journey through the parts of your own home that seem to lack a magickal mystery, and insures her readers that the home is one, if not the best place to practice witchcraft. Jam packed with useful information, hearth magick seems less of an abstract idea and more of an accessible entity, completely surrounding you.

According to Dugan, a witch's cottage can take any shape, from a city apartment to a house in the suburbs. A self-described "Garden Witch" and psychic-clairvoyant, Dugan offers a Martha Stewart–like guide for setting up a magickal home, helping readers to "reconnect to the energies of the natural world," and "direct these magickal forces into [their] homes and everyday lives." A follow-up to Garden Witchery, this guide will appeal to a broad audience, from the serious witch hoping to align each room with magickal principles, to the interested dabbler looking for ways to draw magick into the kitchen or the newbie seeking an alternative kind of feng shui. Included are a range of interesting spells for "removing bad vibes," warding off unwanted guests and buying and selling a home, as well as a household journal with blessings for various rooms of the home, and a helpful glossary of terms. Dugan is at her best when explaining concepts like the history of different Goddesses and categorizing elements like the magickal qualities of houseplants, yet her tendency to converse directly with the reader can be off-putting, as are her frequent personal tangents. Though Dugan claims often that this is a guide for any style of home in any location, it will be most useful to readers with easy access to nature.

As to her style, Ellen connects with her readers and steers clear of the "bow-down-to-my-almighty-knowledge" attitude that some writers stick close to when writing a book on the subject of Wicca. With ease and expertise, Mrs. Dugan writes what's in her own clever heart, but fully delivers the vast amounts of info one would deem necessary to have in order to practice this wonderful, natural craft, the Craft of the hearth and of the home. Does it really sound as if Mrs. Dugan is speaking to her readers in a tone one would use with a two year old? Personally, I don't see a hint of that. After reading book after book after book, the titles, the authors and the information, for me, seem to bleed together and become indistinguishable in a muddled, wordy mess. Ellen Dugan stands out among the rest who have attempted to write on this difficult and vast subject and fully utilizes the humor and wit she is know for.

Ellen Dugan, the author of Garden Witchery, is the ideal guide to show us how to bring the beauty of nature and its magickal energies indoors. Using common household and outdoor items-such as herbs, spices, dried flowers, plants, stones, and candles-she offers a down-to-earth approach to creating an enchanted home.

From specialized spells and charms to kitchen conjuring and color magick, this hands-on guide teaches Witches of all levels how to strengthen a home's aura and energy. Readers will learn how to use begonias and lilacs for protection, dispel bad vibes with salt and lemon, perform tea leaf readings, bless the home with fruit, invite the help of home faeries, perform houseplant magick, and create a loving home for the whole family.

Exploring Candle Magick

Exploring Candle Magick Cover

Book: Exploring Candle Magick by Patricia Telesco

As with most of Patricia Telesco's books, "Exploring Candle Magick" is an eclectic mixture of how-to information, folklore, spiritual practice, and common sense. This is a great all-in-one reference for anyone who likes to use candles as part of their spiritual life, as the book can be used in any number of ways: there are reference lists on the meaning of color, fragrance, placement, and even a section on candles and Feng Shui. This is an all-around useful volume for general information on candles and ritual.

Although we know that fire was discovered in prehistoric times, the candle as we know it did not exist until about 1200. As Patricia Telesco (A Charmed Life; Wicca 2000) avers in Exploring Candle Magick: Candle Spells, Charms, Rituals, and Divinations, candles have always had a ritualistic component, and because they have so long been part of everyday life, the idea of using them as amulets, charms and magical devices is an accessible one. Written expressly for those who believe in magic, her book examines the topic in full from making candles to using them ritualistically and even uncovers the Relationship between candle magic and feng shui.

This wonderful, whimsical look at candles gives us a whole new appreciation for these wax sources of illumination. Candlelight is magickal. It casts a gentle warmth and glow all around. And in the shadows of that light we find a rich history filled with myth, lore, superstition, and spells! Exploring Candle Magick brings this history to life. With Exploring Candle Magick, you can join that tradition and learn how to: -Choose candles that harmonize with your astrological sign.

- Burn candles effectively as a spell component.
- Make magickal candles from scratch.
- Use candles as charms and amulets.
- Decorate candles to reflect any goal including love, prosperity, health, and happiness.
- Combine Feng Shui with candle-burning efforts.

The Prayer To Selene For Any Spell

The Prayer To Selene For Any Spell Cover
"Come to me, O Beloved Mistress, Three-faced

Selene; kindly hear my Sacred Chants;

Night's Ornament, young, bringing Light to Mortals,

O Child of Morn who ride upon the Fierce Bulls,

O Queen who drive Your Car on Equal Course

With Helios, who with the Triple Forms

Of Triple Graces dance in Revel with

The Stars. You're Justice and the Moira's Threads:

Klotho and Lachesis and Atropos

Three-headed, You're Persephone, Megaira,

Allekto, Many-Formed, who arm Your Hands

With Dreaded, Murky Lamps, who shake Your Locks

Of fearful Serpents on Your Brow, who sound

The Roar of Bulls out from Your Mouths, whose Womb

Is decked out with the Scales of Creeping Things,

With Pois'nous Rows of Serpents down the Back,

Bound down Your Backs with Horrifying Chains

Night-Crier, Bull-faced, loving Solitude,

Bull-headed, You have Eyes of Bulls, the Voice

Of Dogs; You hide Your Forms in Shanks of Lions,

Your Ankle is Wolf-shaped, Fierce Dogs are dear

To You, wherefore they call You Hekate,

Many-named, Mene, cleaving Air just like

Dart-shooter Artemis, Persephone,

Shooter of Deer, night shining, triple-sounding,

Triple-headed, triple-voiced Selene

Triple-pointed, triple-faced, triple-necked,

And Goddess of the Triple Ways, who hold

Untiring Flaming Fire in Triple Baskets,

And You who oft frequent the Triple Way

And rule the Triple Decades, unto me

Who'm calling You be gracious and with Kindness

Give Heed, You who protect the Spacious World

At night, before whom Daimons quake in Fear

And Gods Immortal tremble, Goddess who

Exalt Men, You of Many Names, who bear

Fair Offspring, Bull-eyed, Horned, Mother of Gods

And Men, and Nature, Mother of All Things,

For You frequent Olympos, and the broad

And boundless Chasm You traverse. Beginning

And End are You, and You Alone rule All.

For All Things are from You, and in You do

All Things, Eternal One, come to their End.

As Everlasting Band around Your Temples

You wear Great Kronos' Chains, unbreakable

And unremovable, and You hold in

Your Hands a Golden Scepter. Letters 'round

Your Scepter Kronos wrote Himself and gave

To You to wear that All Things stay steadfast:

Subduer and subdued, Mankind's Subduer,

And Force-subduer; Chaos, too, You rule.

Hail, Goddess, and attend Your Epithets,

I burn for You this Spice, O Child of Zeus,

Dart-shooter, Heav'nly One, Goddess of Harbors,

Who roam the Mountains, Goddess of Crossroads,

O Nether and Nocturnal, and Infernal,

Goddess of Dark, Quiet and Frightful One,

O You who have Your Meal amid the Graves,

Night, Darkness, Broad Chaos: Necessity

Hard to escape are You; You're Moira and

Erinys, Torment, Justice and Destroyer,

And You keep Kerberos in Chains, with Scales

Of Serpents are You dark, O You with Hair

Of Serpents, Serpent-girded, who drink Blood,

Who bring Death and Destruction, and who feast

On Hearts, Flesh Eater, who devour Those Dead

Untimely, and You who make Grief resound

And spread Madness, come to my Sacrifices,

And now for me do You fulfill this Matter." the Greek Magical "

Ease A Broken Heart

Ease A Broken Heart Cover SPELL TO EASE A BROKEN HEART
John Shaman

You will need the following ingredients (be sure to charge them all before you
begin):

strawberry tea (one bag)
Small wand or stick from a willow tree
sea salt
2 pink candles
a mirror
one pink drawstring bag
one quartz crystal
a copper penny
1 teaspoon dried jasmine
1 teaspoon orris-root powder
1 tsp. strawberry leaves
1 teaspoon yarrow
10 plus drops apple-blossom oil or peach oil
10 plus drops strawberry oil
a bowl made of china or crystal that is special to you

On a Friday morning or evening (the day sacred to Venus) take a bath in sea salt
in the light of a pink candle. As you dry off and dress, sip the strawberry tea.
Use a dab of strawberry oil as perfume or cologne. Apply makeup or groom
yourself to look your best. Cast a circle with the willow wand around a table
the other ingredients. Light the second pink candle. Mix all oils and herbs in
the bowl. While you stir look at Yourself in the mirror and say aloud: "Oh,
Great Mother Goddess, enclose me in your loving arms and nurture and bring forth
the Goddess within me." Gaze deeply into the mirror after you have finished
mixing the ingredients and say aloud, "I represent the Great Goddess, Mother of
all things. I shine in the light of the Golden Wings of Isis. All that is great
and loving only belongs to me." Then put half the mixture in the pink bag and
add the penny and crystal. Carry it with you always [or until you find another
love]. Leave the other half of the potion in the bowl, out in a room where you
will smell the fragrance. Repeat this ritual every Friday if necessary.

*From Laurie Cabot's "Power of the Witch"
Brackets mine.

Needless to say, you should replace the Goddess name with one that you attune
to.
