Poetic Inspiration

Poetic Inspiration Cover
Perform on a Wednesday when the moon is waxing. Best if done when the moon is in
Gemini, but its not required.

Light a purple candle. You can also burn some jasmine or rose incense if you
wish.

Say this incantation:

Oh Goddess Brigit,
Bright lady of the flame,
Blessed mother of the poets.
Lend me such insight, wisdom and divine inspiration
That the words may flow to me
And that I may craft them beautifully
So that they spin a tapestry of magick
In the hearts of all who hear them.
So mote it be.

Leave the candle to burn itself out. When it does, put it wherever you keep
ritual remnants and give thanks to the Goddess for her gift.

Using Thought To Make Yourself More Beautiful

Using Thought To Make Yourself More Beautiful Image
WE ARE THOUGHTS, SO IN TURN GOOD POSITIVE THOUGHTS CAN MAKE US MORE BEAUTIFUL..

It makes so much sense, if we are always programming ourselves everyday that everything sucks, then our bodies will start to create that a reality. Scientists call this change effect, peptides effecting our cells. Basically whatever emotion we experience effects us and our body by peptides being created by the thalamus of the brain and then coursing through our body attaching itself to our cells. The more happy or respectful and beautiful we see our selves produces more and more peptides that make it so.. Our bodies over time can become more to our desires. A scary thought to anyone that may think negatively a lot..

ADD THINKING BEAUTIFUL TO YOUR DAILY BEAUTY ROUTINE..

Overall basically what this is saying is THOUGHT CAN MAKE US MORE BEAUTIFUL. We are what we think so to speak.. A beauty tip a lot of people should try is next time you look in the mirror see only the positives about yourself and tell your self your beautiful.. It may be just as effective as any skin care beauty routine or maybe use it at the same time..

"As I have mentioned in previous posts energy is thought as well, therefore it is important to mainly create positive thoughts (emotions) as they can change the world.."

Inner Cosmos Meditation

Inner Cosmos Meditation Image
From the space of stillness, something beautiful can flower. Life can be a song, a dance.. from that space of stillness... Where you become magnet of abundance at all levels.

HOW TO ATTAIN THAT STILLPOINT? Concentrate the energy on the Hara, the point two inches below the navel.

That is the center from where one enters life and that is the center from where one dies and goes out of life. So that is the contact center between the body and the soul. If you feel a sort of wavering left and right and you don't know where your center is, that simply shows that you are no longer in contact with your Hara, so you have to create that contact.

WHEN: In the night, when you go to sleep and first thing in the morning.

DURATION: 10 - 15 minutes.

STEP 1: Locate the Hara

Lie down on the bed and put both your hands two inches below the navel and press a little.

STEP 2: Take a Deep Breath!

Start breathing, deep breathing. You will feel that center coming up and down with the breathing. Feel your whole energy there as if you are shrinking and shrinking and shrinking and you are just existing there as a small center, very concentrated energy.

STEP 3: Center While U Sleep!

Fall asleep doing it - that will be helpful. Then the whole night that centering persists. Again and again the unconscious goes and center is there. So the whole night without your knowing, you will be coming in many ways in deep contact with the center.

STEP 4: Reconnect with the Hara

In the morning, the moment that you feel that sleep has gone, don't open your eyes first. Again put your hands there, push a little, start breathing; again feel the Hara. Do this for 10 - 15 minutes and then get up.

Do this every night, every morning.

Within three months you will start feeling centered.

It is very essential to have a centering otherwise one feels fragmentary; then one is not together. One is just like a jigsaw - all fragments and not a whole. It is a bad shape, because without a center a man can drag but cannot love.

Without a center you can go on doing routine things in your life, but you can never be creative. You will live the minimum. The maximum will not be possible for you. Only by centering does one live at the maximum, at the zenith, at the peak, at the climax, and that is the only living, a real life. For example, there will be less thinking because energy will not move to the head, it will go to the Hara.

The more you think of the Hara, the more you concentrate there, the more you will find a discipline arising in you. That comes naturally, it has not to be forced. The more you are aware of the Hara, the less you will become afraid of life and death because that is the center of life and death.Once you become attuned to the Hara center, you can live courageously. Courage arises out of it: less thinking, more silence, less uncontrolled moments, natural discipline, courage and rootedness, a groundedness.

Wolf Protection Spell

Wolf Protection Spell Cover

YOU WILL NEED:

* 2 green candles
* 1 white candle
* Picture of a wolf/wolves
* High John the Conquerer Essential oil (Geranium oil will substitute just fine)
* Consecrated salt and water
* Wine (any "lunar" drink will do mead, milk, ale, etc)
* Honey cakes (any kind of sweet nourishing cake will do)

The pictures are to help focus the energy. The candles and oil are used to empower the spell. The consecrated water and salt are for sealing the circle. The wine and the cake is an offering of love and nourishment.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Gather your supplies, and on the night of the full moon, create a sacred space into which you will place the wolf pictures, the two candles, the cakes and the wine.

Rub the candles with the essential oil and light them. Using the salt, make a circle around your sacred space, and then sprinkle water at each of the four directions beginning in the North.

Sit or stand quietly and concentrate your energy on the wolf pictures, try to see, feel, hear, and smell the energy of wolves. If you have a recording of wolves howling - play it.

Now, chant the following:

"Candles three, green and white,

Bring protection here this night.

The Moon is full, the sky is clear,

Misfortune and evil disappear.

The mighty wolf shall ever reign,

and protect my family from harm and bane.

Come hither! Come hither!

Spirits of the Wolf, strong and great!

Guard and be guarded by this circle now

and throughout your life."

Break one of the cakes in half and eat it. Offer a blessing to the spirit of the wolf, and the light of the moon, and drink some of the wine. Then, take the remaining cakes and wine outside and leave it for the wild things to enjoy. Allow the candles to burn down, and place the wolf pictures in a safe and sacred place.

Surprising Weight Loss Spell

Surprising Weight Loss Spell Cover
* Jasmine essence, essential oil, or flowers
* A quartz crystal.
* Symbols of each of the four elements - earth, fire, air, and water

YOU NEED THREE THINGS:

Jasmine is the flower of femininity. (I am supposing this magic to be directed to a woman -- of course men do want to lose weight too. If this is the case, choose an essence such as Patchouli or Vanilla). It is the flower of senses, of pleasure, of physical attraction. The best suited therefore to bring you back in touch with the pleasure of being in your skin, of looking and feeling attractive, the feeling that exudes naturally from a healthy and balanced body. In fact all the responsibility for weight problems resides somewhere in the body's loss of its ability to stay balanced.

Deficiencies on the emotional or mental plane are interfering with the body's natural wisdom. When its balance is impaired its happiness is lost. Through jasmine you may magically evoke that lost sensuous joyfulness. With the crystal quartz you focus your energies on the issue at hand, and give staying power to the healing forces.

Begin the process during the day, when the moon is full. Cleanse and dress yourself and sit in your magic place. Place the jasmine flowers or essence and also the quartz crystal in front of you together with symbols of the four elements (earth, fire, air, and water).

As you call the powers a different element will present itself to you, according to where the imbalance is in you. That will of course change the shape of the incantation. In this example I will use the element air --on the basis of this example you can work out the different variations.

So air is in this case the element which speaks, the power which will help you with this magic. Words belong to air magic. Now inhale the scent of the jasmine and relax deeply to ask your subconscious to give you a word -- the key word for this magic.

For a few minutes you are sitting with your eyes closed, thinking of nothing. When you sense your mind beginning to wander astray, touch the quartz -- its magical powers will help immediately to focus your attention again. Soon the key word will form itself in your conscious mind: in this example it is "independence". It does not matter that you understand why this particular word should be your key word. Certainly a reason is there, your unconscious has its own deep wisdom -- but it is not important that you should be consciously aware of its motives.

Every night, from the full moon to the black moon, you will rub a few drops of jasmine oil on your naked body. While doing this, let the key word "independence" stay in your mind.

As you revel in the fragrance of the jasmine, relaxing, images will come to your mind, suggestions as to how to expand on the independence in your life. Maybe you will have a vision on yourself learning a foreign language.

Following these suggestions is an essential part of this magic; if you want it to work you will have to find a way. The quartz will help you with that. If you find yourself saying "I have too much to do, I cannot possibly fit this in, I never was good at languages anyway." etc., touch the crystal and feel its energy for a few seconds. It will immediately give you clarity and firmness of purpose, and you will be able to see what you need to do, and have the determination to do it.

Every night, before going to sleep, rub the essence on your body, and experiment with your key word. Keep the crystal with you at all times for this period -- to touch it whenever you feel that you need to do so.

Thanks to the magic of the flower, of the crystal, and of the key word given to you by the power air, a deep change will start in this period. A change which will enable you to regain your natural balance, and the grace and beauty that go with it.

NOTES: If you are not sure how the other elements might present themselves, here are some ideas:

* Air = words and language, aromas and sounds, breathing, flying
* Earth = substance and things, plants and herbs, gardening, drumming,
* Water = emotions and feelings, liquids and water, swimming, cleansing,
* Fire = action, passion, heat, creating, light and color,

Spirited Taking Paganism Beyond The Circle

Spirited Taking Paganism Beyond The Circle Cover

Book: Spirited Taking Paganism Beyond The Circle by Gede Parma

Spirited is unlike any other Pagan or Wiccan book that I have read. I started reading with the mindset that it was going to be just like any other Pagan philosophy book. But I was wrong. Gede Parma writes Spirited with the intention that young Pagans (although I recommend this book for Pagans of all ages) can carry their spirituality wherever they go, and they should do so with pride. Packed with helpful hints and ideas, I recommend Spirited to any Pagan, young or old, advanced or beginning in their spiritual journey. This book is worth reading, keeping, and passing on.

Everyone has their own opinion and mine on this one is that it's fantastic! I'm a 21-year-old who tends to get bored with "text-book" like material. This wasn't like that at all. It kept my attention. I like how Gede put in stories from other people. I may not be a teen anymore, but I still liked the book anyway.

Refreshingly real and practical, Spirited gets straight to the heart of Pagan living and Pagan spirituality today. Featuring real-life stories and first-hand experiences from the author and other young Pagans who've actually been there, this book gives you insight into the philosophy and spirituality of current Pagan rituals and practices. You'll get crucial advice on Witchcraft, spellcraft ethics, modern magic spells, coven and solitary work, magic theory and practice, dealing with discrimination and negativity, and incorporating your spiritual beliefs into all the important areas of your life: Love,Sexuality,Family,Friends,School,Work.

Gede Parma (Australia) has been an active member of his local Pagan community for years. He is an initiated priest of the WildWood Tradition of Witchcraft, a healer and seer, and a keen student of natural health and medicine. He is the descendant of diviners and spiritual healers and is of Balinese-Celtic heritage.

Love Spells

Love Spells Image
Spells, Spells, Spells!

If there’s one thing that Witches are famous for some reason…it’s our ability to cast spells. For those whose knowledge of magick began at Hogwarts, it may come as a surprise that casting a spell doesn’t mean throwing arcane and somewhat disgusting, items into a bubbling cauldron. Nor does it require the use of a special wand and sparkly, flashing lights.
Spellcraft is actually quite simple and, if you follow the rules, often quite effective. There’s that “R” word again. Yes friends, as with all things magickal there are rules to follow unless it doesn’t bother you that Karma might come calling, wearing a pair of steel-capped boots!

Love spells are one of the oldest ways known to humankind for attracting a mate. Whether you are a man looking for a woman, a woman looking for a man or any combination of the above, this is the place for you! Love is that very precious emotion that means so much to all of us. There are many ways to bring love into our lives and we will discuss a few of them here. Whether we are talking about love spells, love potions, the pheromones secreted when we are feeling particularly sexy or other chemical reactions that happen when we fall in love, no one is immune. Love is necessary for survival and growth in every living being's life. Some say that without it, we will wither up and die. There are many aspects of love that need to be explored and here we will touch on but a few with an emphasis on spells of all kinds.

Do you feel that your house is not safe and is not blessed? Do you feel uncomfortable in your house Do you feel that your house is haunted by some negative energy or evil spirits? Are you worried that robbers can come into your house and trouble you and rob all your precious belongings? Are you troubled by your neighbors and want to drive them away? Then this power spell will do wonders for you and will help you achieve your goals Now you will have to perform this spell at early hours say about 4 o'clock in the morning As it is said that at early hours there are good spirits or angels in the house and by this spell that you will perform you will activate them and they will do wonders for you like protecting your house and always guiding your house like a secret angel You will have to say these words AL MOMINO 250 times, every day These magic words when said every day will activate the angels and good spirits in your house and then you may not worry about your house, as it will always be protected.

The one rule:

An it harm none, do as you will.

How easy is that?
In a nutshell this rule, part of the Wiccan Rede, means that you can go ahead and do whatever your heart desires magickally, so long as neither you or anyone else gets hurt or suffers a loss in the process. Do yourself a favour now. Throw out all the notions you may have about Curses, Hexes, or using magick in other ways to “get even”. Even the simplest of Love Spells can be dangerous. If what you’re trying to do would make the other person act in any way other than normal, then you’d best stop right now. Free will is a powerful thing and should never be played with.

Okay, doom and gloom over. You’ve been fairly warned so we’ll just move on.

Here is a very simple love spell that I hope you’ll adapt for your own purposes. The words and visual images I have when I write them aren’t the same as when you read them, so I don’t expect you to follow along word for word.
Here we go!
Simple Love Spell

*note: I performed this spell four years ago before I moved here from Canada, and within three months of coming to Australia, I met my current fiance.

On your altar, or coffee table if you don’t have one, place one red candle and one white candle. Make sure you have a cauldron, or other fireproof container to which you’ve added some sand. (It helps absorb the heat)
On a piece of parchment, or fine writing paper, write down the qualities of the person that you’d like to have come into your life. The colour of ink doesn’t matter, although you could use red or pink if you have it. (Keeps with the theme if coloured ink is used)

When you’re finished writing, concentrate on the words and try to envision how this person makes you feel, the things you’d like to do together, and allow yourself to feel happy. You should feel happy, you’re creating something wonderful to look forward to!
When you’re ready, light the piece of paper from both candles and say something like:

I ask that the Gods/Universe send to me this person I desire,
I may not yet know their face or name,
Still I know they’re out there,
And they’re looking for me just the same.

If you’re like me, and don’t really care whether the Gods/Universe send you a male or a female partner, you can feel free to add that into your wording. There is a twin flame out there for all of us, it doesn’t matter which as long as you both burn brightly.
Put the paper into the fireproof container, clear up your space, and then just relax.

Practical Solitary Magic

Practical Solitary Magic Cover

Book: Practical Solitary Magic by Nancy Watson

I found this book easy to read, understand, and use for practice. It is well written and gives easy guidence especially for those just beginning to explore magic. It is not limiting to one group or practice. This is a good feature for those who define their god or goddess slightly different from any other they have read or heard or seen. The author encourages the user to develop their own skills beyond mimicing those of others. She starts simply and leaves lots of room for expansion into complex spells and rituals. This book will especially touch those who are more logical and practical and doubt the powers of the universe. I have had a whole new world of happiness, power, and possibilities open up to me after completing this text.

Ms. Watson's book is a wonderful step by step guide to creating a ritual. There are plenty of annecdotes-always appreciated in occult books, where the author can come off as damn near godlike if they don't watch themselves. Her method is to use an architectural metaphor for magic, dividing it into Spiritual, Mental, Emotional, and Physical planes; Spiritual magic deals with gods, Mental with thoughts, Emotional with feelings, and Physical with physically acting out ritual. One may work on one or many levels at once.

Watson's reasoning is easily understood, and the exercises constructed in a logical manner. Overall, this is an exxelent book. There are however, 3 flaws that stuck out at me when I read the book. One is relativley minor, the other two could cause major problems if the reader is not aware of them before hand. First, the minor one. Watson's footnotes are in chaos. There is no regular pattern to their placement, and in one case they repeat themselves. It really very distracting. One of the major flaws is that Watson references the Chakra system, in one case relying heavily on it, without giving the reader an overview of the subject. She just jumps right into them, with only the barest idea given as to how the system works. I would recomend Anodea Judtih's Wheels of Light as a good introduction to a very complex system. The other problem is the personality test that gets quite a lot of mileage in the book. THe test itself is slightly confusing, and I often ended up picking the respnse that was closest to what I actually thought, rather than the one that resonated with my spirit. Many of the answers seemed to be the same anwser, in my opninion. While I feel that the assesment given by the test is more or less accurate, I don't quite trust it. Certainly not enough to base work with elementals on. And Watson is pretty clear about the dangers of working with elementals that go against your nature. Other than these tow considerations, the book is excellent. Anyone interested in ritual magic should read it at least once.

One of the best things about this book is that Watson fills it to the brim with autobiography. One gets far more about reading how a person discovered and used a technique in their life than from reading about the technique in the abstract.

Though Watson works out of a vaguely Golden Dawn-ish tradition, she is quite eclectic and encourages her readers to be. She makes the point that magic can be extremely simple -- nothing but writing down one's goal -- or extremely complex, and that a student of the occult should find for themselves what rituals, symbols, and gods they can work comfortably with.

Once again: an excellent work; I recommend it highly. Read it and it will give you a context for all the rest of the reading on magic you do.

Book Of Spells

Book Of Spells Image

Book: Book Of Spells by Anonymous

Presenting many spells from many different times and cultures, this book features enticing, exotic, and sometimes slightly erotic magic spells to help readers prosper at work, at play, or in love. This book is a good way to learn about craft and is a good book for people who know more than a little about "witchcraft", or a good book for kids who know a lot more, and want to do some really kick a** spells... but its not a good book for VERY experianced "witches". I reccomend this book because it has spells that really work, but they only work if you are serious, and are good at concentrating and BEING serious, not being wild and hiper during the spell... it is only for mature people who know what they are doing... It does require you go out shopping once in a while, or go to parks and get materials, but most of the things are things that most people already have on hand... Buy this book but be carful and use them right. HAVE FUN!

Banishing Emotional Pain

Banishing Emotional Pain Cover
I wrote this when I had an intense need for emotional healing. It is
just a basic outline, but it will give you the tools to ease your heart. The
key to successful well working is inside you. They are mostly need driven,
and adding your own energies is vital.

Tools:
black candle
pen
paper

These are the basic tools for the spell. Add to this oils, ( I like cinnamon
- protection, love, healing) or crystals, stones or whatever you feel you
need to use. You don't have to anything because, the ritual itself is enough
on its own. just remember its YOUR spell.

Choose your dark mother, the one who applies to your situation. I chose Kali
- Ma, as she is the protector of women and children. I also feel strongly
bonded to her. Know your choice of deity! Study her/him.

Find a special spot, preferably outdoors, because you will burn the paper.
Write down all your hurt, and pain, and difficulties. ( sadness, loneliness
... what ever you are feeling) You might even write a letter to the
individual(s) who made you feel this way.

Open your circle, light your candles(s) and speak to the spirit, ask to be
free of the burdens you are feeling. use rhyme if you need to, or if you are
like me and are no good at such things , just talk.

Burn the paper with the writing on it

As it burns, thank the spirit for the taking these burdens from you and
giving you peace. thank her for the gifts you know you will receive.

Imagine yourself free of your troubles. Imagine yourself enveloped by the
goddess' strength and protection.

Close your circle, and bury or scatter the ashes of the paper. Allow the
candle to burn itself out.

Take from this what you need and suits your own needs. I hope it is as
helpful to you as it was to me.

peace love and light,
Tracy F.

Creating Your Sacred Space

Creating Your Sacred Space Cover

Setting up your Space:

Before any spiritual even can occur, you should create or designate a place that can act as your "Sacred Space". Your personal area where only spiritual work and interaction will be conducted. Once you have designated an area, inside or outside, you will need to cleanse the area, energize it and create a "gateway" for spiritual communication and work.

Selecting a Space:

Designate an area in your home or outside where your sacred space will be. This should be a place that is undisturbed by other members of your household. If you don't have the space in your home to designate a room as your spiritual area, then set aside a corner or portion of a room. You can use curtains, an attractive room divider or just a special arrangement of furniture. If you decide to create a space outside, the same considerations apply. You want this area to be undisturbed by other people. A place where your ritual objects will be safe if you leave them outside.

Decorating your Space:

Decorations add to the "essence" of your spiritual space, but they also serve as symbolic reminders and tools for your work. If you have a close affinity to the energy of a particular animal, then add a statue or picture of that animal in your area. If you have a particular connection to a pentacle or medicine wheel, then give that object a prominent location in your space.

Some people like to set all natural materials in their space. A solid wood table and chair(s) with natural fiber coverings and so on. These additional practical items are entirely up to you. But if you feel that natural objects help you connect with the natural forces around you, then add these specific items to your space.

Some things you may want to include in your space are:

Table and at least 1 chair
A small table for a permanent altar
Candles of varying color
Crystals and stones for future rituals
Incense for cleansing and clearing (don't forget the matches)
And any other magickal tools you wish to use.

Preparing your Space:

Before you begin any ritual or ceremony, you should clear and cleanse the area where the work is to be done. This is especially true when you're first consecrating your sacred space. You should re-cleanse this area each time you begin a ritual or use of this space, but these later efforts will all be affected by how you first set the intent and use of energy in this space for the first time.

Creating your Altar:

An altar helps a Witch centralize her personal power and focus. This space should be alive and teaming with energy. In other words, don't use it for decorative items, only those items that are used in each ritual should be maintained on this space. This is your work space and it should be large enough for you to create many spiritual objects as well as conduct your spiritual work. And lastly, the altar should be geared toward your personal beliefs. This is a spiritual altar and you will want to honor your beliefs and the Divine energies that are present in your space, whether you there or not.

Sacred Clothing:

Many Witches will not enter or use their sacred space unless they are cloaked in a special garment created by their own hands and consecrated for spiritual use. This robe is unique and special to each Witch who desires to honor their beliefs in this fashion. A robe is more then just material that dresses up a ritual. It is symbolic of the love, devotion and honor of spirit and purpose.

Self clothing isn't the only garments you want to consider for your space. An alter cloth is also called for. You can use more then one cloth in varying colors and patterns, depending on the work at hand. But consider the use of the cloth before you cover the altar. If you are going to be mixing herbs or creating spiritual objects such as handmade candles, smudge sticks or spiritual tools, then you want the cloth to be inexpensive and practical. If however, you are conducting a ritual to celebrate a holiday, then you might use a more formal cloth, anything from crushed velvet to black satin. The cloth should reflect your personality, your beliefs, and one that you feel comfortable using.

The Book Of Shadows The Unofficial Charmed Companion

The Book Of Shadows The Unofficial Charmed Companion Cover

Book: The Book Of Shadows The Unofficial Charmed Companion by Ngaire Genge

The ultimate guide to the hit program Charmed, this is both a book of spells and a key to the mysteries of the show. The book of shadows celebrates the best of Charmed, from its roots in the ancient tradition of Wicca to insider information on the show's stars. N.E. Genge not only provides fascinating background details for the show's Wiccan elements, but also guides readers in performing their own magic. Fans with a witchy bent will learn about the tools of magic and divination and the casting of spells. Recipes and rituals -- from those that beckon love or bless a new business venture to those that bequeath strength or bestow fortune -- are all included. The Book of Shadows is a sassy celebration of witches, sisterhood, and magic.

This book has not been prepared, approved, licensed, endorsed, or in any way authorized by any entity that created or produced Charmed. Charmed is a fun show and remarkably unobjectionable to wiccans and other followers of alternative spiritual paths. The secret seems to be that no matter how much nonsense there is in it, it is true to the spirit and never harms. This book does a great job of distinguishing authentic traditions from the TV made-up stuff, and can introduce a novice (who might think "witchcraft" and "magic" look pretty cool, from watching the show, and wants an easy how-to guide) to the true traditions underlying the show - without giving too much away, either. After all, if you want real magic, you have to do it yourself, every step of the way, and you can't get that from a book; but the book is surprisingly good at conveying that concept. At the same time, for those who just want to know more about the show, this isn't an authorized book, but it has enough details from the show in it to satisfy most fans. Good job! If you just watch the show for the heck of it. this will enlighten you to the reality of wicca, which is something i wish i could do more, either way, wiccan or not, there is stuff about charmed all the way through, and you'll learn a lot about the most controversial part of the fastest growing religion in america also, magick. Definetly reccomended.

Protection Spells

Protection Spells Image
Spells, Spells, Spells!

This is mainly for your home, to keep out negative influences and people. Believe me when I say “people”. If you put enough energy and intent behind this spell, people who annoy you or come over to be negative will find being at your front door and your home, an uncomfortable experience indeed.

Use a black candle for this, and some sea salt. First of all, if you can that is, sprinkle of fine line of salt on every window sill and door frame of your house…from the outside. If this is a bit too difficult, you can do it inside, just don’t forget why the salt is there and sweep it up by accident. Salt purifies, which is good for repelling negative forces.

While sprinkling, say something like:

Sacred Salt protect this house,
Keep it safe from thug and louse’
Protect all those who dwell inside,
Negative forces have no place to hide.

Yeah I know it sounds a bit hokey, and for those who aren’t sure of what a “louse” is, imagine that pain in the butt neighbour who keeps annoying you.

When you’re finished sprinkling, come back inside, light the black candle and sprinkle a circle of salt around it and say something like:

Sacred Candle, Sacred Flame
Protect this household in your name.

Keep chanting this again until you feel like you’ve made a “connection”. When you’re finished, snuff out the candle and say:

This is my will, so mote it be!

It’s important to mention here that one should never blow out a candle. Either use a snuffer, moist fingertips, or allow it go burn out. Blowing out a candle scatters the Fire and Air energies that you’ve worked so hard to focus together. It sort of instantly undoes all the work you’ve just done.

Energies Of The Waning Moon

Energies Of The Waning Moon Image
As I am writing this, we are only two days into the waning Moon, but it is time to think of all the things we have to do before the Moon is dark again. This phase of the Moon favors completion, letting go, and finishing things off. It is not the time to begin new projects since the energy of this cycle is diminishing, and you will find yourself less apt to follow through when the new cycle begins. I have a new project that I am so anxious to start, but it is going to have to wait if I want it to be a success.

The waning Moon is a time for "getting rid of" which means that any workings you do are going to be much more effective if you put yourself into that mindset first. Clear yourself of unfinished business now, clearing the way and freeing you to take advantage of the new opportunities that will come about at the new Moon.

The waning Moon is associated with the Crone aspect of the Goddess, and the Mage aspect of the God. Now is also the time for you to engage in those activities which increase your own wisdom. Think of a plan and begin to act on it. This cycle of the Moon can be just as powerful and productive as any of the other Moon phases, or it can be a time of decreased activity and increased rest. It's all up to you.

Honor your existence. Be aware of the smells around you, the creatures and the plants, the tastes of all you eat and the dreams that fill your idle time. Grant yourself time to live this day in many dimensions.

Spells For The Solitary Witch

Spells For The Solitary Witch Cover

Book: Spells For The Solitary Witch by Eileen Holland

This book "Spells for the Solitary Witch" focuses on spells and spell work specifically for the solitary practitioner. Clear and easy to follow, Spells for the Solitary Witch explains how to prepare and cast spells 87 spells in all together with the materials needed for each spell and the incantations to say that will ensure the best results. Tailored to the needs of solitary witches, Holland suggests alternatives to hard-to-find ingredients, as well as directions about where to find specific ingredients crucial to a spells success.

Written by a solitary witch and Wiccan priestess herself, Spells For The Solitary Witch is a simple walkthrough of ways to release hidden power for health, wellness, emotional enrichiment, and environmental harmony. Chapters discuss magick and its applications in love, life enhancement, and problem solving, as well as magickal candle gardens, tea potions, and more. Detailed instructions, specific incantations, detailed how-to's down to where one can easily obtain sesame oil or Tiger Balm, and much more make Spells For The Solitary Witch ideal for novice and experienced spellcasters alike.

Again we are presented with Ms. Holland's easy to read and follow style of writing. She lays her book out according to the kind of spells you may want to do, and lists her spells according to what you want to accomplish when working your spells.

I have to say her opening section, entitled :Before you Begin" is exceptional in explaining basic spellwork, what it is, what is magic, ethics when working magic, personal responsibility and terminology. This is an excellent reference on it's own and should be suggested to all beginning spellworkers as a point of essential reference. I wish Ms. Holland would have expanded this section, as she did it so well, but it does stand on it's own as a very good overview.

The sections on actual spellworking are divided into seven chapters, covering "Inner Work, "Goals, Hopes, Wishes", "Love", "Life Enhancement", "Problem Solving", "Magickal Candle Gardens", and "Tea Potions".

Each section has a selection of spells for various situations. Under "Inner Work" we find spells for acceptance, getting over it, even personal power talisman, a tool for building self-confidence. Each spell has complete instructions and directions on how to use the spells for each intent. A list of needs is followed by preparation and the actual spell working, which may include an incantation, ritual, and sometimes an "afterward" or review of what should be the focus and how you should react to the spellworking. With the Talisman, she discusses creating these talisman, the proper signs for you, day workings and correspondences, and all you would need to know to create and use a personal talisman.

Going forward into the various chapters, each chapter contains spells referencing the chapter title. In "Goals, Hopes, Wishes" we have spells for goals you wish to reach, spells for special wishes, interview charms; all with discussions on your intents to what you want to achieve and how to work the spell.

The "Love" section has workings for personal enhancement, to bring love into your life. The "Life Enhancement" chapter has spells for home blessings, abundance, fertility, joy, and protection to name a few. "Problem Solving" covers dealing with major mistakes, fearsome problems, problematic persons and hard times.

What I note in her spells is that when a spell calls for a "potion" as in her Tragedy Potion (for someone who has just encountered a tragedy in their life and you offer them this potion to help calm nerves and help them center and balance) the ingredients are noted and the appropriate cautions are given. In this case, she gives a recipe for a hot cup of cocoa, with some oil of peppermint. She notes "Note: this potion isn't for you if you are lactose-intolerant, allergic to chocolate or peppermint or have any medical reason that precludes its use." Wise words from a wise witch.

The book contains many notes of wisdom. "Magickal Candle Gardens" focuses on candle magic to assist persons in need. The garden is built indoors, containing candles arranged for your specific purpose and using candles of specific shapes and size depending on the needs. After going over the plans and the layout, it looks to be something even I would consider as a special magical working, being attractive, practical and very especially magical.

The last chapter is about "Tea Potions" specifically, and again, contains potions to work on yourself for specific situations you may encounter, such as personal health, luck, creativity and success to name a few. She works some of the potions with runes, others with chant. The only note I have here is that she did not repeat her good advice about being allergic to certain herbs, as most of these teas are herbal in their base. Please use your own digression when preparing these teas and if allergic, then look for a substitute.

Rose Love Amulet

Rose Love Amulet Cover

A ROSE LOVE AMULET

Items needed:

* One and a half cups of Rose petals
* Two cups of rose water or water
* Rose Essential oil
* Ylang-Ylang essential oil
* Rolling pin
* Small cookie cutter or very small glass
* Scissors
* Ice pick, Knitting needle or wooden skewer
* Medium enamel pot or Pyrex pot and lid

Start by snipping off and discarding the white portion of each petal. Focus on drawing love to you as you do this.

Drop the petals into the enamel pot.

Cover the petals with the rose water or ritual water. (Reserve the essential oil until later.)

Cover and slowly bring it to a simmer. Do not boil!
Simmer for a total of thirty minutes. Focus on drawing love to you.

Remove from heat, stir in some of the rose essential oil, then allow it to sit in the lidded pot overnight.

The next day, return it to the heat and repeat the process, adding more rose water or ritual water, if needed. (Add a few drops of rose essential oil.)

Do this for a total of three days.

On the third day, let it cook until it is a dryish mass. Let it cool a bit, then remove it from the pot and squeeze out the remaining fluid.

The rose mass should be able to hold its shape.
Knead in a few drops of Ylang-Ylang essential oil; concentrating on drawing love to you as you knead.

Divide the rose 'dough' in half.

Roll out one of the balls and cut with a cookie cutter.

With the ice pick, make two small holes to be used for hanging the amulet. If desired, etch in your sigil, a rune or other love symbol. (You can make the remaining dough into another amulet for a friend or to hold in reserve, as it will 'melt' over time.)

Set the amulet away to dry, for a week. Every night, gently turn the amulet to dry evenly. Focus on drawing love to you as you do this.

The finished amulet is a velvety grayish-black.

String it on a bit of yarn (so it reaches, when worn, to chest level.) Wear under your clothing, next to your skin.

Anoint with love drawing oil before meeting your lover, if desired.
