How To Cast Voodoo Spells

How To Cast Voodoo Spells Cover Casting voodoo spells is associated with dark magic in popular culture. Followers of voodoo, however, frown on most forms of magic. They believe that a body that lives in harmony with the lwa (spirits) does not require magic to balance its existence. For those that do practice magic or charms, they must never practice selfish magic or spells. When ougans (priests) and mambos (medicine men) use magic, it is protective in nature.

Casting voodoo spells instructions

Step 1. Consult an ougan or mambo prior to performing a voodoo ritual yourself (see Resource section below). Devotees of voodoo do not perform magical rites or spells without the guidance of a strong ougan who has taken an oath to do no harm.

Step 2. Choose the lwa (spirit) for the charm. A typical voodoo spell or charm protects from harm or evil. The charm may be inscribed on a person (via tattoo) or on an object that is dedicated and blessed by the ougan.

Step 3. Dress in red. The ougan will dress in red and sacrifice a rooster or a chicken to summon the lwa for the protective charm. Be aware that ritualistic animal sacrifice is illegal in most states unless it is part of an organized religion and recognized as such.

Step 4. Carve the symbol of the lwa onto the object for the charm. The ougan may also tattoo or paint the symbol on the person receiving the charm.

Step 5. Use herbs to cleanse the wound or tattoo (see Resources section below). The types of herbs used are often at the discretion of the ougan or mambo who should be well-versed in herb-lore. Some herbal concoctions can be purchased through designated voodoo shops for ritual purification. Certain initiation ceremonies require the ritualistic marking of members with identifying marks.

Tips And Warnings

Beware of fake voodoo practitioners on the Internet. Do not perform voodoo charms or magic unsupervised. Voodoo is a religion and should be respected.

Haunted New Orleans Voodoo Wish Spell

Haunted New Orleans Voodoo Wish Spell Cover One of the most famous bits of New Orleans folklore is that of the haunted New Orleans Voodoo wish spell. Performed by tourists and natives alike, this spell takes place at the site of Marie Laveaus final resting place. Myths abound regarding the actual location of the grave site of New Orleans' most famous Voodoo Queen, Marie Laveau. Some say she is buried in the St. Louis No. 2 cemetary (Hauck, 1996) in a tomb marked "Marie Laveau Tomb". Others speculate she is buried in any number of other cemetaries in New Orleans (Tallant, 1946). Complicating the issue is the fact that she had a daughter who was also named Marie Laveau, and it is anybody's guess in which tomb she rests.

New Orleans Voodoo is a hybrid voodoo, reflective of the eclectic culture that is uniquely New Orleans. Marie Laveau is somewhat of a poster child for the mixed races that emerge from New Orleans as she is said to have been a free person of color and part Choctaw. Mam'zelle Laveau was born to a wealthy French planter Charles Laveau, and a mother who may have been a mulatto slave, a Caribbean Voodoo practitioner, or a quadroon mistress.

Controversy persists over where Marie Laveau and her namesake daughter are buried. Some say the latter reposes in the cemetery called St. Louis No. 2 (Hauck 1996) in a "Marie Laveau Tomb" there. However, that crypt most likely contains the remains of another voodoo queen named Marie, Marie Comtesse. Numerous sites in as many cemeteries are said to be the final resting place of one or the other Marie Laveau (Tallant 1946, 129), but the prima facie evidence favors the Laveau-Glapion tomb in St. Louis No. 1. It comprises three stacked crypts with a "receiving vault" below (that is, a repository of the remains of those displaced by a new burial).

A contemporary of Marie II told Tallant (1946, 126) that he had been present when she died of a heart attack at a ball in 1897, and insisted: "All them other stories ain't true. She was buried in the Basin Street graveyard they call St. Louis No. I, and she was put in the same tomb with her mother and the rest of her family."

That tomb's carved inscription records the name, date of death, and age (62) of Marie II: "Marie Philome Glapion, decede le 11 Juin 1897, agee de Soixante-deux ans." A bronze tablet affixed to the tomb announces, under the heading "Marie Laveau," that "This Greek Revival Tomb Is Reputed Burial Place of This Notorious 'Voodoo Queen' . . . ," presumably a reference to the original Marie. Corroborative evidence that she was interred here is found in her obituary ("Death" 1881) which notes that "Marie Laveau was buried in her family tomb in St. Louis Cemetery No. 1." Guiley (2000) asserts that, while Marie Laveau I is reportedly buried here, "The vault does not bear her name." However, I was struck by the fact that the initial two lines of the inscription on the Laveau-Glapion tomb read, "Famille Vve. Paris / nee Laveau." Obviously, "Vve." is an abbreviation for Veuve, "Widow"; therefore the phrase translates, "Family of the Widow Paris, born Laveau"-namely Marie Laveau I. I take this as evidence that here is indeed the "family tomb." Robert Tallant (1946, 127) suggests: "Probably there was once an inscription marking the vault in which the first Marie was buried, but it has been changed for one marking a later burial. The bones of the Widow Paris must lie in the receiving vault below."

The Laveau-Glapion tomb is a focal point for commercial voodoo tours. Some visitors leave small gifts at the site-coins, Mardi Gras beads, candles, etc.-in the tradition of voodoo offerings. Many follow a custom of making a wish at the tomb. The necessary ritual for this has been variously described. The earliest version I have found (Tallant 1946, 127) says that people would "knock three times on the slab and ask a favor," noting: "There are always penciled crosses on the slab. The sexton washes the crosses away, but they always reappear." A more recent source advises combining the ritual with an offering placed in the attached cup: "Draw the X, place your hand over it, rub your foot three times against the bottom, throw some silver coins into the cup, and make your wish" (Haskins 1990). Yet again we are told that petitioners are to "leave offerings of food, money and flowers, then ask for Marie's help after turning around three times and marking a cross with red brick on the stone" (Guiley 2000, 216).

Hoodoo Gurus And Hoodoo Spells

Hoodoo Gurus And Hoodoo Spells Cover As can be expected, most practitioners of hoodoo are African American, but Whites and Native Americans also use hoodoo, although their practices share commonalities more with Pennsylvania Dutch pow-wow magic, rather than with its more potent practices in West Africa. In its home of Africa, Hoodoo (Hudu) is a well respected tradition, which is typically passed through old family priestly lines. Today, in America, traditional folk knowledge is passed from person to person; and there is no evidence of a structured hierarchy.

The goal of hoodoo is to allow people access to supernatural forces to improve their daily lives by gaining power in many areas of life, including gambling, love, divination, cursing one's enemies, treatment of disease, employment, and necromancy. As in many other folk religious, magical, and medical practices, extensive use is made of herbs, minerals, parts of animals' bodies, an individual's possessions, and bodily fluids, especially menstrual blood, urine and semen. Contact with ancestors or other spirits of the dead is an important practice within the conjure tradition, and the recitation of Psalms from the Bible is also considered magically effective in hoodoo. Due to hoodoo's great emphasis on an individual's magical power, its basic principles of working are easily adapted for use based on one's desires, inclination and habits.

Home-made potions and charms form the basis of much old-time rural hoodoo, but there are also many successful commercial companies selling various hoodoo components to urban and rural practitioners. These are generally called spiritual supplies, and they include herbs, roots, minerals, candles, incense, oils, floor washes, sachet powders, bath crystals, and colognes. Many patent medicines, cosmetics, and household cleaning supplies have been also aimed at hoodoo practitioners and have found dual usage as conventional and spiritual remedies.

Love Potions

Love Potions Cover A potion (from latin potionis, meaning beverage, potion, poison) is a consumable medicine or poison.

In mythology and literature, a potion is usually made by a magician, sorcerer, dragon, fairy or witch and has magical properties. It might be used to heal, bewitch or poison people. For example, Love Potions make a person fall in love (or become deeply infatuated) with another (the love potion figures tragically into most versions of the tale of Tristan and Iseult, including Richard Wagner's opera Tristan und Isolde); sleeping potions cause a person to fall asleep (in folklore, this can range from normal sleep to a deathlike trance); and elixirs heal/cure any wound/malady (as in C.S. Lewis' The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe). Goscinny and Uderzo's character Asterix the Gaul gained superhuman strength from a magic potion brewed by the druid Getafix.

Creation of potions of different kinds was a common practice of alchemy, and was commonly associated with witchcraft, as in Macbeth.

During the 19th Century, it was common in certain countries to see wandering charlatans offering curative potions. These eventually gained reputations as quack medicines. In later years, these transformed into patent medicines.

In modern fantasy, potions are often portrayed as spells in liquid form, capable of causing a variety of effects, including healing, amnesia, infatuation, transformation, invisibility, and invulnerability.Potions have also gained popularity as a standard item in computer role playing games, usually as a healing item. The availability of healing potions in the popular Final Fantasy series of games eventually resulted in the release of an actual beverage named "Potion" in Japan by Square Enix, the games' creators.

Levitation

Levitation Cover Levitation is a phenomenon of psychokinesis (PK) in which objects, people, and animals are lifted into the air without any visibly physical means and float or fly about. The phenomenon has been said to have occurred in mediumship, shamanism, trances, mystical rapture, and demonic possession. Some cases of levitation appear to be spontaneous, while spiritual or magical adepts are said to be able to control it consciously.

There seems to be several general characteristics about levitation. The duration of the phenomenon may last from a few minutes to hours. Generally it requires a great amount of concentration or being in a state of trance. Physical mediums who have been touched during levitation usually fall back to a surface. Levitations of saints usually are accompanied by a luminous glow around the body.

Numerous incidents of levitation have been recorded in Christianity and Islam. Among the first was Simon Magus in the first century. Other incidents reported among the Roman Catholic saints include the incident of Joseph of Cupertino (1603-1663), the most famous, who is said to have often levitated through the air. It is reported he often gave a little shriek just before levitating, and on one occasion levitated for as long as two hours.

Saint Teresa of Avila was another well known saint who reported levitating. She told of experiencing it during states of rapture. One eyewitness, Sister Anne of the Incarnation, said Saint Teresa levitated a foot and a half off the ground for about a half hour.

Saint Teresa wrote of one of her experiences: "It seemed to me, when I tried to make some resistance, as if a great force beneath my feet lifted me up. I know of nothing with which to compare it; but it was much more violent than other spiritual visitations, and I was therefore as one ground to pieces." (Evelyn Underhill "Mysticism," 1955)

Also Saint Teresa observed these levitations frightened her but there was nothing she could do to control them. She did not become unconscious, but saw herself being lifted up.

And, at the beginning of the twentieth century Gemma Galgani, a Passionist nun, reported levitating during rapture.

Incidents also have been reported in the religions of Hinduism and Buddhism. Milarepa, the great thirteenth century yogi of Tibet, is said to have possessed many occult powers such as the ability to walk, rest and sleep during levitating.

Such feats were said to be duplicated by the Brahmins and fakirs of India. Similar abilities were reportedly shared by the Ninja of Japan.

Within the Eastern traditions levitation is reportedly accomplished through such secret techniques of breathing and visualization. The techniques involve the employment of an universal life force and are called by various names such as: 'prana,''ch'i' and 'ki.'

Louis Jacolliot, a nineteenth-century French judge, traveled the East and wrote of his occult experiences. In "Occult Sciences in India and Among the Ancients" (1884, 1971) he describes the levitation of a fakir:

Taking an ironwood cane which I had brought from Ceylon, he leaned heavily upon it, resting his right hand upon the handle with his eyes fixed upon the ground. He the proceeded to utter the appropriate incantations...[and] rose gradually about two feet from the ground. His legs were crossed beneath him, and he made no change in his position, which was very like that of those bronze statues of Buddha...For more than twenty minutes I tried to see how (he) could thus fly in the face and eyes of all known laws of gravity...the stick gave him no visible support, and there was no apparent contact between that and his body, except through his right hand."

Jacolliot was further told by the Brahmins that the "supreme cause" of all phenomena was the 'agasa' ('akasha'), the vital fluid, "the moving thought of the universal soul, directing all souls," the force that the adepts learn to control.(See Akashic Records)

Throughout history the determining factor for judging whether the practice of levitation is caused by good or evil influenced seems to depend on the one doing the levitating. Simon Magus was judged evil while Saint Teresa was said to do it in states of rapture. During the Middle Ages and Renaissance levitation was thought to be a manifestation of evil. It was said to be an unusual phenomena generated by witchcraft, fairies, ghosts, or demons.

Even to the present levitation is often thought to be involved in cases of demonic possession. Many times beds, tables, chairs and other objects have been witnessed flying up into the air apparently by themselves. They frequently aimed themselves at the exorcist or his assistants.

In 1906 Clara Germana Cele, a sixteen year-old school girl from South Africa, was said to be demonic possessed. She raised up five feet in the air, sometimes vertically and sometimes horizontally. When sprinkled with holy water she came out of these states of possession. This was taken as proof of demonic possession.

Likewise, incidents of poltergeists and haunting often involve the levitation of objects.

Some physical mediums claimed to have experienced levitations. The most famous is Daniel Douglas Home, who reportedly did it over a forty-year period. In 1868 he was witnessed levitating out of a third-story window, and he floated back into the building through another window. When levitating Home was not always in a trance, but conscious and later described his feelings during the experiences.

Once he described "an electrical fulness (sic)" sensation in his feet. His arms became rigid and were drawn over his head, as though he was grasping an unseen power which was lifting him. He also levitated furniture and other objects.

The Catholic Church excommunicated Home as a sorcerer. Although he was never discovered to be a fraud like other mediums who used wires and other contraptions to levitate objects.

Italian medium Amedee Zuccarini was photographed levitating with his feet twenty feet off of a table.

Controlled experiments involving levitation are rare. During the 1960s and 1970s researchers reported some success in levitating tables under controlled conditions. The Soviet PK medium Nina Kulagina has been photographed levitating a small object between her hands.

Skeptics of levitation have came up with several theories as to its cause including hallucination, hypnosis, or fraud. These theories are not applicable to all incidents, however. The most likely and acceptable explanation is the Eastern theory of an existence of a force (simply, an universal force) which belongs to another, nonmaterial reality, and manifests itself in the material world.

The technique of "yogic flying" which consists of low hops while seated in the lotus meditating position has been achieved by advanced practitioners of Transcendental Meditation (TM). This has received worldwide publicity. The technique is claimed to be accomplished by maximizing coherence (orderliness) in brain-wave activity, which enables the brain to tap into the "unified field" of cosmic energy. However, skeptic say yogic flying is accomplished through muscular action. A.G.H.

Learn Spells Casting

Learn Spells Casting Cover Probably the most obvious characteristic of a witch was the ability to cast a spell, a "spell" being the word used to signify the means employed to accomplish a magical action. A spell could consist of a set of words, a formula or verse, or a ritual action, or any combination of these. The most important part of a spell is of course the energy the practitioner puts into it – this being done in a variety of ways by many different people. Spells traditionally were cast by many methods, such as by the inscription of runes or sigils on an object to give it magical powers; by the immolation or binding of a wax or clay image (poppet) of a person to affect him or her magically; by the recitation of incantations; by the performance of physical rituals; by the employment of magical herbs as amulets or potions; by gazing at mirrors, swords or other specula (scrying) for purposes of divination; and by many other means.

Doing magick can be fun and rewarding. The idea for a spell is anything your mind can conjure. Get ready to tap into a part of your brain that is seldom used so I have heard. The best knowledge you can get is from meditation. This takes lots of practice and patience. Spell casting is easy and fun.

There are steps you must take to be successful and remembering that they can back fire if your not careful. You should as the Gods for their assistance and proceed. First, you have the idea or intent for the spell (need to make sure your intent is clear). Second, you need to write your spell-I believe the better it rhymes the more impact it has. When you have written the spell itself you have manifested some of the energy for the final doing of the spell so choose your words wisely. Third, preparing for the spell, you gather your tools so to speak and find your private space to work the spell. Fourth, you set it all up and make your circle of protection.

Fifth, your space should be clean, you should be clean, and clothes are optional. Sixth, be sure to thank the Gods for their assistance and close your circle. Always remember the secret to your spell working is to believe it will work and it feels right. What ever you send out comes back to you three fold. So with harm to none your will be done.

I personally don't ever recommend a love spellthey go around the world before they actually get to your intended hearts desire. Just remember if you play with fire you will get burnt.

Within your circle there should be the four directions:
East color, yellow- element, air-good candle colors, yellow/white
South- color red-element fire-good candle colors, red/white
West-color blue-element water-good candle colors, blue/white
North-color green-element earth-good candle colors, green/brown/white
Gold is for the Gods and silver is for the Goddess. The goddess watches over the witches (there are no warlocks, sorry guys).
Common spell needs are money, fun, and a vehicle, to quit a habit, find a job, to just name a few. We all need something sometime. I have always believed if I need it I will have it. Lo and behold magick helps with my needs and desires and it can yours too.
I have done most of my reading from Silver Ravenwolf, Scott Cunningham and a lot of ideas from Buckland's complete book of Witchcraft. This will sound kind of Star Wars-Know the power is with you and it will be. I know inside myself if my spell will work or not. Give it a try and always remember what ever you send out will come back to you.

Learn Magic Spells

Learn Magic Spells Cover So, you want to learn magic spells, but don't know how to do it? There are a couple of options that you can choose from. The first is to buy a magic books. There are lots of books on beginning magic spells. No, the magic spells aren't going to make you fly through the air or become the object of every man's desire (but really, who wants that many men fawning over them and getting jealous?) But, the magic spells that are found in spell books can help you better yourself. There are all different kinds of magic spells. For example, there are money spells, protective spells, traveling spells, good health spells etc. The list is endless. What you're really doing when you're casting a spell is sending out vibes to the universe. In essence, you're saying, "Please help me achieve this goal."

So where can you find these books? Anywhere. You can buy spell books at Amazon, Barnes and Noble or download for free from torrent or sites like darkbooks.org. If you wan't get it from online, find a offline bookstore close to you. And then there are always the witch stores you know, the ones that have incense pouring out of them when you walk by. The books are widely available and not that expensive. And there are as many different spell books as there are magic spells. So before you buy one, you have to decide what you want to do with it.

Another option for learning magic spells is to find a coven near you. You might think you're the only person interested in Wicca, but odds are there's at least one other person in your area that's either interested or practicing. Learning from someone else is much easier than learning from a book.

Covens have vast amounts of knowledge. And a coven doesn't mean thirteen witches. Well, traditionally it does, but in today's society, a coven is how a group of wiccans is referred to, whether they're lead by a High Priestess or not. So really, you only need one or two other people who know what they're doing to help you start out.

Still with me? The other thing that you need to do is become familiar with different herbs and crystals (and stones). They play a big part in most magic spells. For instance, Lapis Lazuli helps your second sight. Tigers Eye is a protective stone. Don't worry if you're not drawn to both herbs and crystals. If one resonates more with you, that's ok. Personally, I'm drawn to crystals much more than herbs. You don't have to memorize every detail about all the herbs and crystals that you'll be using simply because you can always buy books that list their characteristics. But it is good to be familiar with at least some of them. The more familiar you are, the easier spell casting will be. And, you can create your own magic spells or personalize ones that you found in books to fit your needs more specifically. And then you have to practice. Practice, practice, practice. You'll never be good at spellcasting without it. But remember, no matter if you buy a book, or books, about spell casting, or find someone close to you who is a practicing Wiccan. The first rule is this: do no harm. Whatever you send out to the universe comes back to you by three. Send out good vibes, and you'll receive good vibes. Send out bad ones, and you'll get even worse back.

How To Write A Spell

How To Write A Spell Cover If you're going to write a spell, it should be specific to you and very individual. Even if following a traditional spell, it should be tailored to your specific needs to be the most effective for you. Understanding the basics of spell construction will enable you to formulate your own specific, effective spells for any purpose you choose.

1. State your intention. Decide on the result you want to accomplish with the spell.

2. Time your spell. Timing when casting spells can be important. The Moon is important in witchcraft, and therefore has a profound influence upon us. It is very important to choose the right moon phase for your spell; magical workings for gain, increase or bringing things to you, should be initiated when the moon is waxing (from new to full); when the moon is waning (from full to dark), then its time for magical workings of decrease or sending away. The highest energy occurs at the full moon, and therefore this is the most powerful time for magical workings. The new moon is the next most powerful time for magic.

3. Work with the seasons. There is a natural time for starting things (a planting time), for maturing things (a growing time), for reaping things (a harvest time) and, of course, a time for rest and planning.

4.Gather your tools. Make sure that you have all the tools that you need for casting the spell. Your tools must have no inherent magic. They are to help you create a mood. You also have to clean your tools. Don't forget to cleanse and bless (consecrate) your tools before you begin casting your spell.

5.Understand magic. Remember that magic is the manipulation of energy, a thought is a form of energy and a visualization is an even stronger form of energy. Your visualization can be a method used to intensify further and direct your will. Your visualization can be the method by which you control the magical energy you have produced. You must know what you want. You must see it. You must feel the high energy flow. You must direct it.

6.Write your spoken words. For making your words and thoughts stronger you can write your spell into a rhyme to be spoken aloud; this makes it easier to remember your spell, you can also chant your spell to raise energy.

7.Remember the Threefold Law. Everything that you want to reach with this spell comes back 3 times, good or wrong.

Tips

* Before you write your final version of your spell, you can write on a note what you want to reach with your spell, and what you are needing.
* Don't forget to cast a circle before doing any spell, for you are totally vulnerable for elementals when casting higher powers of other beings.
* Meditation is the key to relaxation, and being completely relaxed allows energy to flow freely throughout your body. You should learn how to clear your mind and focus with whats on hand.

How To Use Good Magic Spells

How To Use Good Magic Spells Cover Good magic is a recent term used to distinguish itself in the public's mind from black magic. In black magic, spells are used completely for the spell caster's benefit at the expense of someone else. In good magic, the spells are usually to help someone else, but some can help the spell caster, although not to the point of hurting someone else.

Instructions How to Use Good Magic Spells

1.Decide what you want and write it down. Keep rewriting this desire into as few words as possible, or even make a symbol of this desire. Keep this paper or memorize it.
2.Choose a time to perform the spell. The best way to time a spell is by the phase of the moon. A waxing moon brings something to you, while a waning moon sends something away. A full moon is great for all-purpose spells. Look at an almanac to determine when the best moon phase will occur.
3.Choose your spell components or ingredients. These can be colors, candles, found objects, natural objects, crystals, spices, herbs, a photograph or figurines. These can be as simple or as complex as you wish. Usually, you pick some object to represent your desire and another to mark the beginning or the ending of the spell.
4.Write down the spell or copy it out of a spell book or a website. Feel free to change a spell as you would a cooking recipie. Write down when you are to perform the spell.
5.Select an undisturbed area where you can perform the spell--a room or a corner of a garden, for example. Some people just do the entire thing inside of their heads. Turn off the phone and make sure others leave you alone. Make sure the spell area is neat, tidy and does not have any distracting smells.
6.Gather your spell materials, your slip of paper with the desire (if needed), your book of shadows (or grimoire) if you have one and the spell instructions.
7.Take a deep breath and believe that the spell will work. Keep that feeling of certainty in your mind as you perform the spell.
8.Make some sort of offering as thanks to the universe. This could be feeding the birds, making a donation to charity or any other good deed that comes along.

Tips And Warnings

- Spells done inside of your head through imagination can often be just as powerful as actually performing the spell. It is good to get used to actually doing spells in order to make your imagination more effective. As you become more experienced in spell craft, you will no longer need to actually perform a ritual. Your wish and your belief that it will work be enough.
- Never do Love Spells to get a specific person to fall in love with you. These always backfire. It's best just to do a spell for love in general. Don't expect instant results like you see on TV shows or the movies. That does not happen. Spells are to be used in conjunction with practical activities. For example, if you do a spell to find a job, you do actually have to apply for jobs and go on interviews.

How To Practice Witchcraft Spells

How To Practice Witchcraft Spells Cover When one thinks of witchcraft and spells, the tendency is to imagine a haggard woman of the wood reciting an incantation to hex her neighbor. This is unfortunate and completely inaccurate. To practice true Witchcraft Spells means to accept personal responsibility for one's actions and their consequences. So, before you fire up your cauldron, learn how to properly practice witchcraft spells.

How to Practice Witchcraft Spells Instructions

Things You'll Need:

* Spell supplies and materials, as appropriate

Step 1. Decide on the spell you wish to perform. This will depend on your goal or intent, whether it be to increase financial abundance, find a new job or promote good health.

Step 2. Practice responsible ethics. Accept that we cannot always change what is meant to be, nor should we try to. Likewise, life is full of lessons that are intended to be learned from. So, examine your motives carefully before resorting to using a spell to bring about change through witchcraft.

Step 3. Follow the Witch's Pyramid when performing any spell. This is a set of four pillars (or principles) that are integral to success. They are: To Know (understand the mechanism of the spell and its effects), To Will (the ability to focus on your intent), To Dare (to believe that you are worthy of receiving this blessing) and To Keep Silent (don't negate the positive flow of energy set in motion by talking or bragging about your spell).

Step 4. Prepare the area for spellwork by walking in a circle three times deosil (clockwise) while cleansing the space once with sprinkled salt, again with blessed water and the final time with the smudging of incense, such as frankincense or myrrh.

Step 5. Consecrate any tools you intend to use when casting spells, such as a wand, pendulum or an athame (a special knife used for ritual, not cutting). To do this, set up a lit candle, burning incense, a bowl of blessed water and a bowl of salt to represent the four elements. Then pass the object over the candle flame (Fire), through the incense smoke (Air), sprinkle it with the water (Water) and then the salt (Earth). Finally, recite the following: Elements of Air, Fire, Water and Earth, to this tool of the magick now give birth. Blessed and consecrated in this hour, be thou (name object) of strength and power.

Tips & Warnings

* Do not perform any spell that affects another person unless you have that person's explicit permission to do so.
* Abide the Witch's Rede, which states, "An' it harm none, do as ye will."

How To Practice White Magic Spells

How To Practice White Magic Spells Cover White magic is a belief system that embodies good energy, health and healing. It's filled with everything black magic lacks: great karma, good spells, bountiful peace and a system of rituals and spells that promote tranquility and love. If you'd like to spread some harmony and healing during these stressful times, get mellow, practice kindness and spread love and good tidings among friends and family. Here's the best part: You can start practicing immediately since no license is required.

Instructions

1.Learn all you can about the various aspects of white magic. The practice can be layered in spellbinding language and may include charms and rituals, so devotees recommend devoting as much time to learning about it as you would any other life-changing practice.
2.Make white magic a regular part of your day. Adopt a male and/or a female spirit of your choosing and "consult" with them regularly during daily tasks to confer blessings--in the form of positive energy--into everything with which you come into contact. Build these internal reserves as you practice White Magic and you will be able to dispel negativity.
3.Invest in a beautiful journal and turn it into your Book of Shadows. This personal diary exists to accompany you as you use white magic to record and expand upon all of your experiences. As you explore the art of casting spells, use this journal to keep an accurate record of your spiritual growth.
4.Construct a mental bridge between your mind and nature. Practicing white magic is all about tying a ribbon around that relationship so you understand how closely the two are tied together. Good deeds like planting flowers, taking time to admire a sunset or picking fruit for those who have no food offers opportunities to understand how intertwined all of life can be.
5.Explore introspection and get in touch with the peace it brings when you reserve snippets of the day for meditation. Because white magic is focused upon bringing good energy into your life and the lives of those you love, quiet times offer opportunities for you to use your powers to comfort, enrich, enhance and better the lives of significant others.
6.Accept the fact that your greatest feats of magic will be those that come from your heart and soul. Conjuring a spell or creating a ritual can't affect the outcome of a situation unless you believe that your power is strong enough to make it so.
7.Never use white magic to manipulate, threaten or harm. Such actions have been known to backfire badly, turning white into Black Magic and cursing the practitioner for abusing the gift. Remember that there's a lot of common sense built into the practice of white magic. The Golden Rule may not have originated with early proponents, but this principle is implicit in the practice. Spells you send out will always come back to you.
8.Cast spells only after you have thoroughly examined your heart because once cast, a spell can't be rescinded. If you're considering a spell but you're not quite sure it's ready to be cast, revisit Step 5. Turning inward and meditating upon the magic you are about to make will always serve you well.

How To Perform Protection Spells

How To Perform Protection Spells Cover We all feel vulnerable at times. A protection spell can empower you. Whether it is the negative energies of others or fear for your property, you are not helpless. You can build a field of energy that will keep destructive forces away. Read on to learn how to perform protection spells.

Instructions

1.Identify your fears. The kind of protection you need will influence the spell you perform. Mentally destructive forces need to be handled differently from physical threats.

2.Describe the ownership history of your home, if that's what you want to protect. Pay attention to the feelings you get when you write about previous owners. The energies they have left behind could be what's making you feel uncomfortable.

3.Meditate on the person who is causing you grief if you are performing the spell for protection against someone. Write a letter addressing that person and explaining why you feel vulnerable.

4.Buy a black and white candle. Light it in a place in your home where you feel safe. Imagine a thick field of white energy surrounding you. Call up that protective field of energy when you feel threatened.

5.Pour hot water over a 1 tsp. of basil. Let it sit for half an hour. Run a warm bath and add the basil water. Relax and envision yourself moving through life confident and brave.

6.Eat more protein like chicken, beans, cheese and tofu when feeling vulnerable to help ground you. Spicy dishes with garlic, onions, black pepper and cayenne keep negative energies away. Eat while visualizing that you are protected from threatening forces.

7.Perform a simple protection spell for your home by burning sage in a censer. Walk through every room in your house, including the attic, basement and garage, chanting words that empower you.

Tips & Warnings

* When using incantations, say positive words that empower you rather than negative words against someone or something.

This is simple magic protection spell for the protection of a room, household or other physical location against negative energies or bad spirits.

How to cast it:

1.Cast a Witch's Circle. If you use a besom for this, sweep the entire area that you wish to protect.

2.Asperse (sprinkle with purified water) the area that you are protecting. Pay special attention to any doors, windows or corners.

3.Cast the sea salt around the edges of the area. You need not be heavy-handed, just a few salt crystals per foot is quite sufficient.

4.Light the incense and allow it to burn for a few moments before continuing. Many denominations of witchcraft begin chanting or prayers at this point.

5.Use the fan or feather to cense (direct smoke towards) the entire area. Work clockwise (doesil) and wave the fan through the smoke to send it outwards. As with the water, pay special attention to doors, windows and corners. Finish your chants and invoke any deities or energies whose blessing you desire upon the protected area. Finish with your normal ritual and close the circle.

How To Make A Book Of Shadows

How To Make A Book Of Shadows Cover The book of shadows (BOS) is used to store information you'll need in your magical tradition. Many Pagans and wiccans feel a BOS should be handwritten, but some use a computer to store information as well. Bear in mind that a BOS is considered a sacred tool, which means it is an item of power that should be consecrated with all of your other magical tools. Copy spells and rituals into your BOS by hand – this will not only transfer energy to the writer, but it also helps you to memorize the contents. Make sure you write legibly enough that you’ll be able to read your notes during a ritual!

Difficulty: Average
Time Required: Varied
Here's How:

1.To make your Book of Shadows, begin with a blank notebook. A popular method is to use a three-ring binder so items can be added and rearranged as needed. If you use this style of BOS, you can use sheet protectors as well, which is great for preventing candle wax and other ritual drippings from getting on the pages! Whatever you select, your title page should include your name. Make it fancy or simple, depending on your preference, but remember that the BOS is a magical object and should be treated accordingly. Many witches simply write, “The Book of Shadows of [your name]” on the front page.

2.What format should you use? Some witches are known to create elaborate Books of Shadows in secret, magical alphabets. Unless you’re fluent enough in one of these systems that you can read it without having to check notes or a chart, stick with your native language. While a spell looks beautiful written out in flowing Elvish script or Klingon lettering, the fact is that it’s just hard to read unless you’re an Elf or a Klingon.

When it comes to the contents of your personal BOS, there are a few sections that are nearly universally included.

3.Laws of your coven or tradition: Believe it or not, magic has rules. While they may vary from group to group, it’s a really good idea to keep them at the front of your BOS as a reminder of what constitutes acceptable behavior and what doesn’t. If you’re part of an eclectic tradition that doesn’t have written rules, or if you’re a solitary witch, this is a good place to write down what YOU think are acceptable rules of magic. After all, if you don’t set yourself some guidelines, how will you know when you’ve crossed over them? This may include a variation on the wiccan Rede, or some similar concept.

4.A dedication: If you’ve been initiated into a coven, you may want to include a copy of your initiation ceremony here. However, many Wiccans dedicate themselves to a God or Goddess long before they become part of a coven. This is a good place to write out who you are dedicating yourself to, and why. This can be a lengthy essay, or it can be as simple as saying, “I, Willow, dedicate myself to the Goddess today, June 21, 2007.”

5.Gods and Goddesses: Depending on what pantheon or tradition you follow, you may have a single God and Goddess, or a number of them. Your BOS is a good place to keep legends and myths and even artwork concerning your Deity. If your practice is an eclectic blend of different spiritual paths, it’s a good idea to include that here.

6.Correspondence tables: When it comes to spellcasting, correspondence tables are some of your most important tools. Phases of the moon, herbs, stones and crystals, colors – all have different meanings and purposes. Keeping a chart of some sort in your BOS guarantees that this information will be at the ready when you really need it. If you have access to a good almanac, it’s not a bad idea to record a years’ worth of moon phases by date in your BOS.

7.Sabbat rituals: The Wheel of the Year includes eight holidays for most Wiccans and Pagans, although some traditions do not celebrate all of them. Your BOS can include rituals for each of the Sabbats. For example, for Samhain you may wish to create a rite that honors your ancestors and celebrates the end of the harvest, while for Yule you may want to write down a celebration of the winter Solstice. A Sabbat celebration can be as simple or complex as you wish.

8.Other rituals: If you’ll be celebrating each full moon, you’ll want to include an Esbat rite in your BOS. You can use the same one each month, or create several different ones tailored to the time of year. You may also wish to include sections on how to cast a circle and Drawing Down the Moon, a rite that celebrates the invoking of the Goddess at the time of the full moon. If you’ll be doing any rites for healing, prosperity, protection, or other purposes, be sure to include them here.

9.Herbs: Ask any experienced Pagan or Wiccan about a specific herb, and chances are good that they’ll expound on not only the magical uses of the plant but also the healing properties and history of use. Herbalism is often considered the core of spellcasting, because plants are an ingredient that people have used for literally thousands of years. Put together a section in your BOS for herbs and their uses. Remember, many herbs should not be ingested, so it’s important to research thoroughly before you take anything internally.

10.Divination: If you’re learning about Tarot, scrying, astrology, or any other form of divination, keep information in here. When you experiment with new methods of divination, keep a record of what you do and results you see in your Book of Shadows.

11.Sacred texts: While it’s fun to have a bunch of new shiny books on Wicca and paganism to read, sometimes it’s just as nice to have information that’s a little more established. If there is a certain text that appeals to you, such as The Charge of the Goddess, an old prayer in an archaic language, or a particular chant that moves you, include it in your Book of Shadows.

12.Magical recipes: There’s a lot to be said for “kitchen witchery,” because for many people, the kitchen is the center of hearth and home. As you collect recipes for oils, incense, or herb blends, keep them in your BOS. You may even want to include a section of food recipes for Sabbat celebrations.

13.Spell workings: Some people prefer to keep their spells in a separate book called a grimoire, but you can also keep them in your Book of Shadows. It’s easier to keep spells organized if you divide them up by purpose: prosperity, protection, healing, etc. With each spell you include, make sure you also leave room to include information on when the working was performed and what the outcome was.

14.The biggest dilemma with any Book of Shadows is how to keep it organized. You can use tabbed dividers, create an index at the back, or if you’re really super-organized, a table of contents in the front. As you study and learn more, you’ll have more information to include – this is why the three-ring binder is such a practical idea. Some people choose instead to use a simple bound notebook, and just add to the back of it as they discover new items.

15.You may want to use one notebook for information copied from books or downloaded off the Internet, and another for original creations. Regardless, find the method that works best for you, and take good care of your Book of Shadows. After all, it’s a sacred object and should be treated accordingly!

Tips:

1.If you find a rite, spell or piece of information somewhere else, be sure to note down the source. It will help you keep organized, and you'll start to recognize patterns in authors' works.

2.Add a section that includes books you've read, as well as what you thought of them. This way, when you get a chance to share information with others, you'll remember what you've read.

3.Want to hear what other readers have done with their BOS? Be sure to check in over at our Readers Respond page!

How To Do White Magic Spells

How To Do White Magic Spells Cover While magic in and of itself is neither good nor bad, the intent of the spell caster is described in terms of color. Black magic is used to injure or destroy, while white magic is used only for the purpose of good. white magic spells are cast to heal and help both yourself and others. When cast correctly, they bring light into the world in an uplifting manner. Creating and casting White Magic Spells will focus your thoughts and intentions as you send your energy out into the universe. There are as many ways to generate magic as there are people who practice it, but some basic guidelines can provide a general framework for creating your own ritual to do White Magic spells.

Instructions

1.Create a sacred space. Find a location in which you feel relaxed and peaceful. Set out a small table and cover it with a white cloth. This will serve as your altar for spell casting. The color of the cloth can be changed according to the spell being cast: For love, it should be pink or red; for money, it should be green; and for success, it should be yellow. White stands for protection and peace and is a good general color.
2.Decide what your intention is. What do you want to accomplish? Be as specific as possible. It is better to say, "I want clear skin and healthy hair", than it is to say, "I want to look better." Remember, this is white magic, and your purpose should be for the good of someone else or yourself. Remove any trace of negativity from your thought process.
3.Find your tools. Light candles in the appropriate color for the purpose of your spell. Choose herbs, crystal, incense or essential oils to help invoke the proper spirits and focus energies. For example, lavender, vanilla and honeysuckle are used in love spells, while alfalfa and cloves are used in friendship spells. A common tool is the ritual dagger, or athame. The athame is used to cast the ritual circle, and is never actually used to cut anything.
4.Write the spell. Name it according to what it should do (and yes, it needs to rhyme). When you are finished, keep it private, as this keeps the energy focused and does not allow any negativity to influence your work. The spell can be as long or as short as you like. If you're having trouble, borrow an established spell. (See Resources.)
5.Decide when to cast your spell. Many people like to cast spells when there is a full moon, because that is when there is the most energy available to work with. However, this is not always convenient. You can cast a spell at any time; however, for it to be as effective as a full-moon spell, you may have to cast it more than once.
6.Cast the circle. The space you are using to cast your spell should be cleaned and sprinkled with salt ater prior to use. Once this is done, use your athame, wand or finger to draw a large circle around you--approximately 9 feet in diameter. If you like, you can define the outline of the circle with candles or stones.
7.Invoke the four elements. Begin by facing East and asking Air to join you in your spell casting and watch over you while you work. Then turn South and ask the same favor from Fire. Face West and ask for the help of Water. Finally, turn to the North and call upon Earth.
8.Light a candle and ask any spirits or deities who seem particularly suitable to your cause to join you. Then thank them for protecting you, guiding your energy and adding their own energy to your spell.
9.Chant your spell and perform whatever rituals you feel will strengthen it. Be sure to end your spell with "so mote it be," as this closes the spell. Ask the universe to hear you and to turn your wishes into reality. Describe your desires in great detail. Thank the universe for listening to you. Offer some token of gratitude.
10.Face North and say, "Spirit of the Earth, my ritual is now complete. I bid you farewell." Repeat while turning counterclockwise moving from North to West, to South, to East, bidding the elements farewell.
11.Blow out the candle. Bow your head before your altar and say, "I declare this circle closed. So mote it be." Complete the closing by ringing a bell.

How To Do White Magic Fire Spells

How To Do White Magic Fire Spells Cover Fire rituals have been around since ancient recorded history. Fire is a powerful symbol of transformation, and can be used, with the proper spiritual education, to supersede emotional blocks and processes that may hinder you. The fire ritual has been used for centuries to release that which no longer feels good, manifest goals and discharge limits that the participant might have so she can create anything that she, with earnest, asks to have in her life. It is easy to perform a white magic fire spell. All you need are a few objects, good intention and a dry match.

Instructions For The White Magic Fire Spell

1.For an outdoor burn, make sure that the ground is clear of debris and that you have made a fire ring with stones to contain the flame. If inside, consider disconnecting your smoke detector as well as opening a window (this last part is so that the smoke that carries your prayers can rise up to the heavens to be heard).
2.Add the sticks, twigs and dry leaves to the urn (or lay them in the fire ring). Place the dry leaves on the bottom of the pile and mix the twigs and the small branches over them. Now add any important objects you deem sacred, like a cross or a rosary, a Buddha statue, gemstones, sage or a special keepsake from your past.
3.Light the fire, then think about what you want to create in your life while you stare into the flame. Allow the hypnotizing essence of watching the fire guide you past your intellectual doubts and cynicism. The fire will soon burn out and turn into white-hot embers.
4.Add herbs to the glowing embers. As the smoke starts to rise, imagine in your mind's eye what it is that you want to improve, what you want to get rid of or what you want to manifest in your life.
5.Say your wishes out loud. For example: "Hear my prayer, (God, higher power, Buddha, etc.). Grant me blessings of joy, happiness, abundance and love." As the smoke rises, your prayers are carried to the heavens to be answered.

How To Casting Spells

How To Casting Spells Cover Many people believe in the power of spells and ritual, and in the ability to make things happen with the power of your mind. There's no reason why these very simple and generic spells shouldn't be used to help you with the little things in life, too! casting spells is not difficult. You just need to know what it is that you want to change and harvest the energy of the universe to help you. You don't need to pay a psychic, a medium or a shaman to cast a spell. Love spells, protection spells, prosperity spells and other spells can be created by you, free of charge. When you cast spells yourself, they are more likely to work, because your personal energy is what makes the magic start. Follow these steps to casting a spell that will change your life for the better.

Common Instruction to Casting Spells

Step 1. CREATE A SAFE BUBBLE FOR YOURSELF. The easiest way is to light a candle and stay within its glow. If you are casting a spell for someone who is with you, they should stay within the glow of the candle light as well. This helps the good energy to surround you and keep the bad energy away from you.
It is good to cast spells at night so that you can see the protective circle of light. For best results, cast your spell at the full moon. The energy pull of the earth is greatest at the full moon and since you are trying to change the energy forces by casting a spell, you want them to be at full magnitude.

Step 2. CAREFULLY CHOOSE THE GOAL OF YOUR SPELL. Casting a spell is a way of initiating change. It is not difficult to cast a spell, but you have to be sincere. Before you begin to cast a spell, decide what it is that you want to change. Is it a relationship? Do you want to change how someone feels about you? How about your financial situation? Do you want more money? Maybe you want to lose weight. Before you begin a spell, think about what it is that you want to change and what is holding you back. If you are casting a spell for yourself, close your eyes, hold your hands outstretched in front of you, palms facing upwards and slowly say the following 3 times:

Energy of the universe
Feel my energy.

Energy of the universe
Touch my energy.

Energy of the universe
Join with my energy to ______________.
Fill in the blank with what it is that you want to accomplish. For example: Do you want to make someone fall in love with you? Then say "Join with my energy to make John fall in love with me." Do you want to cast a spell that will help you lose weight? Say, "Join with my energy to help me lose 10 pounds."

Step 3. HOLD HANDS OR A PERSONAL ITEM IF CASTING A SPELL FOR SOMEONE ELSE. If you are doing the spell for someone else, hold their hand and both of you should close your eyes and raise your palms to the sky. If the person for whom you are doing the spell can't be there, you should hold something of theirs in your hands so their energy is present. You can have a ring, a piece of hair, a glass they drank out of, a hairbrush, piece of clothing, etc. It really doesn't matter what you use as long as that person had contact with it. Then say:

"Energy of the universe
Feel my energy.

Energy of the universe
Touch my energy.

Energy of the universe
Join with my energy and __________'s energy to ______________."
Fill in the first blank with the name of the person for whom you are doing the spell and fill in the second blank with the reason for the spell. For example, do you want to help your friend get good grades? Then say "Join with my energy and Carl's energy to help him get an A from his math teacher."

Step 4. WRITE DOWN WHAT IS STOPPING YOU FROM REACHING YOUR GOAL. After you say the spell verses above three times, write on a small piece of paper (about the size of a post it note) what is holding you back from your goal. If you want someone to fall in love with you, write down what is stopping that from happening. If you want more money, write down what is keeping money from you.

If you are casting a spell for someone else, ask them to think about what is stopping them from accomplishing their goal. For example: Sara asks you to cast a love spell on John because she wants him to fall in love with her. The barrier to that might be: John is in love with Joan. Write "Joan is keeping John from falling in love with Sara" on the paper.

Step 5.BURN THE PAPER TO SEND OFF YOUR SPELL. Once you are finished writing the barrier to the goal, fold the paper in half, then in half again. Using the flame from your lit candle, set the paper on fire and drop it in a dish or container that will not burn. Let the paper burn completely on its own. Do not blow it out. While it is burning say:

"Move beyond my sphere of influence and remove the barriers to my wishes.
Move beyond the forces of this world and dissolve the boundaries that limit my will.
Move beyond the edges of reason and go to the limits of the universe where all things are possible and cast my spell."

Step 6. CHECK THE ASHES FOR THE RESULT OF YOUR SPELL. Once the fire has gone out, check to see if the paper has completely turned to ash. If there is any area that is not burned, that means that the spell will not work. Either you or the person for whom you are doing the spell is not sincere, or the universe is saying no to your request at this time. You will have to try again at a later time.

Think of reasons why the spell didn't work. Did you sincerely think about the all barriers to your goal? Are you sure you understand the complete consequences to your request? Maybe the universe is trying to get you to think about something that you have not fully grasped at this time or don't want to think about.

If the paper has blackened completely by the time the fire goes out, that means that the energy forces are now moving in your favor. Focus on your goal in order to keep the positive energy flowing. If you create negative energy before the spell works its magic, you will create barriers to the fulfillment of the spell, and you may have to start over again.

Tips to Casting Spells

* Spells are only effective if you believe them to be. If you want your magic to work, you need to have faith in yourself. It's all about perception and willpower.
* One key thing to remember is to try and stop your mind from thinking about anything apart from the spell.
* If you are trying to cast a spell and it isn't working make sure you truly want that to happen, if you don't the spell will most likely not work because you won't be using as much willpower as you would have been.

Warnings to Casting Spells

* You can cast a black spell on someone, but you must be careful that some of the negative energy doesn't come back to you. When you cast love spells or prosperity spells for others, the good white magic has a chance of spilling over on you, and you may find yourself in love or winning the lottery. The same is true for black spells. The negative energy can spill over on you creating havoc in your life. Think carefully before you create negative energy by casting black spells. They can't be controlled as easily as white spells. Somehow when you send negative energy out into the world, it has a way of finding you, even though you have sent it to someone else. Is the black spell you are thinking of creating, worth the possible trouble it will bring you?
* If you are just doing it for fun, don't bother - it won't work for a party trick. Keep in mind that its a spirit/will thing.
* If you follow it, remember the Threefold Law when working a spell. What you put out, be it magical or not, comes back to you threefold.
* There is a posibility these spells may not work.
* Simple Rule: If you send evil out, it will come back knocking on your door.

Some Simple Spells To Cast

It should be noted that many of this spells are manipulative towards a specific person, and would be avoided by someone following the Wiccan rede: "And ye harm none, do what ye will". If you'd like to take spell-casting a little more seriously, take a look at this page.
