Book: Interpretationes Of Ancient Herbs by John Opsopaus

Which the Temple Scribes employed, from the Holy Writings, in translation. Because of the Curiosity of the Masses they [i.e., the scribes] inscribed the Names of the Herbs and Other Things which they employed on the Statues of the Gods, so that they [the masses], since they do not take Precaution, might not practice Magic, [being prevented] by the Consequence of their Misunderstanding. But we have collected the explanations from many Copies, all of them Secret.

Cunningham’s classic introduction to Wicca is about how to live life magically, spiritually, and wholly attuned with nature. It is a book of sense and common sense, not only about magick, but about religion and one of the most critical issues of today: how to achieve the much needed and wholesome relationship with our Earth. Cunningham presents Wicca as it is today: a gentle, Earth-oriented religion dedicated to the Goddess and God. Wicca also includes Scott Cunningham’s own Book of Shadows and updated appendices of periodicals and occult suppliers.

Wicca Progress Report

Wicca Progress Report Image
Greetings, one and all. This is an update on (a) Gavin's state of health and (b) the School of Wicca and its status. First the School of Wicca.

We are gradually getting the School's incoming mail back into a current status. Please be patient with us. We expect everything to be up to date by February 1 or thereabouts. The forecast is complicated by the fact that the city of Hinton wants to buy the School's building, so we will be moving its offices to an old house further along Temple Street. When your name is Frost, nothing is simple or straightforward.

The post-office box number will not change.

This year we hope to be able to attend at least Sirius Rising and SummerFest, and maybe in the autumn we will get to FPG, an observance of the Temple of Earth Gathering in Florida. Much depends on Gavin's strength as it returns incrementally day by day. To our very deep regret, Kaleidoscope Gathering is probably beyond our present abilities.

On the health front, Gavin has one more surgery scheduled for the end of January, to fix the ever- present threat of maturing men, kidney stones. Apparently the back surgery (three sessions so far) has gone very well and the rods and screws of October are in place to keep the spine in line and to reduce the pain. He is now walking part-time on a cane, gradually weaning himself from the walking frame as his strength returns, aided by a crew of physical therapists. This last operation is scheduled for the end of January and is not supposed to be life-threatening, although it counts as the fifth in a series since April and each one seems to knock him back further. For the procedure in October, he was on the table for twelve (12) hours. Still, at 81, what can you expect?

We look forward to brighter days ahead, as long as we do our share of the physical work.

An inexpressible debt of gratitude is owed to everyone who has been sending thoughts of healing and strength in our direction. Don't stop now.

To each one who has thought of us, Blessed be, and thank you again. Gavin and Yvonne

THE ST. JOHN SCHOLA'S SERIES OF CD RECORDINGS:

"A TRADITIONAL CHAPEL SINGS GREGORIAN CHANT"

Although there are many recordings made in recording studios, or sometimes in larger churches or monasteries with professional or dedicated choirs, there are few, if any, recordings made by the average small lay choir, chanting what can actually be attempted in the smaller churches, chapels, and oratories, to which the Sacred Chant can be a great addition in the traditional Roman liturgy.

The St. John Schola is, therefore, recording a CD series consisting of unedited, live recordings of the type of chant pieces that may be used at traditional churches and chapels. It makes no pretense to being
professional, but to what is achievable, with a little work, by the average small lay choir. This series will serve as a practical guide for the wider use of Gregorian chant in the traditional Roman Catholic liturgy. Supporting music sheets and booklets are available to accompany the recordings and aid small choirs in using Gregorian chant for the traditional liturgy.

For ordering and descriptive information, see the TRADITIO Network's Gregorian Chant department.

The most authentic collection of Gregorian chant is that produced by
the Choir of the Monks of the Abbey of St. Peter of Solemnes under
the direction of Dom J. Gajard, O.S.B., and Dom Marie Clair, O.S.B.
These recordings were recorded before Vatican II and have since
been remastered. These recordings represent the quintessence of
the chant, without the operatic qualities of later recordings.
There is a later set by the same choir on the Paraclete label under
Dom Jean Clair, but these reflect the innovations in the Divine
Office that followed Vatican II.

To Write A Letter To The Beloved Dead

To Write A Letter To The Beloved Dead Cover
In this manner the letter must be written: first, the ink prepared from soot mixed with pale wine; next, the pen made, shaped from a quill never before cut; then, the paper arranged on a table between two black candles. At the top of the paper this inscription should be set" now, thou who are mourned, the nature of this mourning: as thou knowest even now my sorrow, so on this paper do I doubly affirm it. I write thee my heart here, for thy sight and mine only - that we may be bound by such silent words even better than when our words were spoken. Receive, then, this document as sign and token of my commitment: not to forget thee, nor to cease mourning for thee, until my own life shall be ended.

Write down then the essence of your grief, the substance of your devotion, and such aspects of memory as you would fix forever. When this has been accomplished, fold the paper thrice and seal it, along with sweet herbs, in a small box which should then be buried in the ground, or burned in a fire of fragrant wood. The letter shall thus be received.

Wicca And Magick Beginning Wicca What Is Wicca

Wicca And Magick Beginning Wicca What Is Wicca Cover

Book review: Wicca And Magick Beginning Wicca What Is Wicca by Anonymous

Wicca is an unending path of light, magic, love, and constant learning. We revere nature and see the true divine beauty of the universe. It’s about recognizing that we all have the ability to take our fate into our own hands, and we have the right to choose how we use that power. There is no bible and no prophet. Our only rule is a simple and logical one: "An it harm none, do as ye will".

Wicca is an earth religion based on ancient (even prehistoric) paganism. Wicca itself is relatively new, a reconstruction loosely based on old religion and early witchcraft. Its roots are hard to trace because of persecution, which caused people and records to be hidden or destroyed.

Most Wiccans worship the Goddess and the God. They have thousands of names given to their many aspects by various cultures. 2 Each name given to the Goddess and God in old mythology represents a different facet of the Goddess and the God's personality. Today, we invoke them by the name that is most appropriate for the purpose.
